Blithe's POV

Today has been an unusual day, through and through. First, I got yelled at in second period by Ms. Allen, a grumpy old lady with graying hair and a strict no-bullshit attitude. She freaks at the slightest things and I was unfortunate enough to piss her off on a bad day.

So I got lectured because I wasn't 'paying attention'. Everyone around me gasped, like literally gasped because I, Blithe Kenneth, wasn't paying attention. That should say a lot about the kind of person I am, which is pretty pathetic I have to admit.

I had been staring at the board blankly, my thoughts in a loop, caught up in the whole Jade thing from this morning. I hadn't answered when called upon the first time and I totally didn't catch it the next four times either, until Ms. Allen was right in front of me.

The second thing that happened was just plain horrible. Having some of Jades friends walk up to me and actually try to start a conversation, with ME. I just barely made it through with minimal stutters, so you know, kudos to me.

Why is it horrible you may ask? Well, you see our friendship is a very sore subject to talk about. Her friends acknowledge us as friends but they don't say or do anything about it. It's just something everybody knows but low key doesn't talk about. Just like my friends don't actually talk or bring up my friendship with Jade. Pathetic, I know.

The third and last thing, was the whole 'people staring at me while I went from class to class' thing. I mean everyone knows me and Jade are friends, so why is everybody acting like its such a big deal? Even one of my own friend, Dylan keeps giving me these weird looks through out class and it's seriously getting on my nerves.

"What?!" I snap after the sixth time he turns and gives me the same look. Causing him to jump in his seat, startled.

"Nothing it's just." He pauses and looks at me thoughtfully. "You're friends with two of the hottest girls in school and I was wondering why? But I keep looking at you and you're actually really hot." He says with a sheepish grin. My eyes widen and my mouth drops open in shock.

"Did you just call me hot? Me?" I ask, even going as far as turning around and looking behind me. There's no one there due to the fact that we are seated in the last row.

"You're hot but I've never actually like noticed before because your Blithe, you're all innocent and stuff and it was weird thinking about you like that. But you are, hot I mean."

BECAUSE YOU'RE BLITHE? WHAT KIND OF BULLSHIT ANSWER IS THAT!

"We've been friends for a year now and you calling me hot is very weird and unpleasant." I mutter and shiver for effect.

"See this is why." His tone is light and laidback, he smiles and goes as far as tapping my nose with his finger.

"Why what?" I mutter, rubbing my nose whilst glaring at him. Dylan looks at me one last time before laughing and then goes back to face the teacher.

"Is there something you want to share with the rest of class Mr. Mitchell?" Our teacher asks, Dylan giggles before sitting up straight and clears his throat.

"No sir, sorry."

The class resumes.

.........................................

I see Kate while going to my next class. She's talking to some girl I don't recognize but that wasn't uncommon. Kate seems to know a lot of people. The blonde stops as soon as her eyes land on me though, saying something to the girl on her side and makes her way to me. The girl looks me up and down, sneering and I take she was not impressed. Well fuck you too, I think to bitterly.
