Blithe's POV
My friends are the most conniving traitors known to man and I wasn't just saying that because of what happened at lunch. I totally was. Lunch went off worse than I had imagined. The least favorable hour of school this year, hands down.
Shawn was just plain evil and Kate hadn't let down on the teasing one bit. The most awful part was how well they got along with Jade, except maybe Kate but that was to be expected. Those two were at each others necks and when they weren't, it was to gang up on me.
Do you see my dilemma?
Walking to sixth period was uncomfortable and tense. Jade kept knocking her shoulder against mine every five steps and Kate wouldn't stop asking about what me and said brunette were doing when she caught us. Truth be told, I wasn't very sure what happened either.
I for once couldn't believe myself, or how I had reacted to her. I had gone to a new level of low, the lowest of the low. The type of person that makes out with their drunk best friend type of low.
If I had pushed her off the moment she dropped her head on my lap, I would have saved myself from the mortification of pushing her to the ground when seeing Kate's face from amongst the crowd.
But I didn't, infact I actually enjoyed it and the warmth that she emitted. Even knowing that Jade was probably just playing around, like always.
I almost had a heart attack when she gripped my legs and bore up to me, her hazel eyes holding me captive. It was hypnotizing and had me breathless in less than a minute. I felt like a puppet, my strings being pulled by her crafty fingers and devilish grin.
Her hair had been soft between my fingertips, her teasing purr sending vibrations against my thighs. It took all my will power to not fidget and act normal which was pretty hard considering the fact that I had the girl of my dreams on my lap.
Then again this was all a game to Jade because everything seemed to be a game to her and I was foolish enough to fall prey to her trap. A mantra of 'this is just a joke' filled my head, words going in a never ending loop. And I was right.
The minute I walked into class, Jade didn't even spare me a glance. I'd thought we were finally making progress but apparently that was all in my head. I watched as she laid her head on April, her fingers going through her hair like I had in lunch. Watching Jade and how she acted with her friends, reminds me of how hopeless my situation was. The older girl was just touchy feely with all her friends and that included me.
Jade didn't like me other than just a friend and it was futile to think otherwise. So yes I glared at the quiz in front of me, feeling put out and a little sad. What's worse is that I still had to see her later to work on our project. Damn, It was like I couldn't get a moment of peace.
Pouting, I finish my quiz quickly answering all the questions accordingly. Standing up, I make my way to the front and drop it off at Mr. King's desk. He gives me a tight lipped smile and tells me to do what ever I want for the rest of class. It's then that I notice that I was the first one done, again.
The nerd in me preens at the fact but one look in Jade's direction and my mood sours. I walked back to my seat, my eyes solely on the ground.
I spend the class period drawing in my notebook, head phones tucked snugly in my ears, music playing soothing melodies. People stand up and drop off their quizzes as time goes by but I pay no mind and keep on drawing.
