Rick knew that Kate could hear him now, so he only talked about getting her back, not the 'I love you' part. He thought that it might scare her, and he didn't want her to be scared. Kate had been through a lot and if he told her he loved her, hell would break loose.
But right now, Rick was angry, very angry. When he went to get some coffee for himself he saw Josh with another girl. At first he thought it was just a nurse and that they were discussing a case, but the last time he checked you don't kiss a nurse when you're talking about a case. And it wasn't just a kiss, Josh had pinned the nurse against the wall at some point. That's when Rick stopped looking at them, he knew that the next step would be in the janitors room. It hurt Rick to see this. Josh's girlfriend was fighting for her life and in the meanwhile he was sleeping around with nurses. The reason why it made Rick angry, is because he knew that Kate 'loved' Josh, and she would be heartbroken if she would find out, and that isn't wat Rick wanted.

Kate sometimes moved her hand, not a lot, just like having a shock. Those movements, but that's all. Rick had asked Doctor Stevens what that would mean, she said it could be that Kate would wake up soon. That her body was making herself ready to wake.
Everytime Kate would move her hand it made Rick's heary skip a beat. He wanted her to wake up so bad, but she didn't.

Now Rick started to get bored, so he decided to read a book. Bored or not he wasn't going to leave Kate alone.
"Mr. Castle. You're still here?" Dr. Stevens said when she walked in.
"Yeah, and I'm not planning on leaving." Rick said and closed his book. Stevens looked at Kate's chart and wrote something down again.
"What book are you reading?" She asked.
"The Giver."
"I love that book! Did you see the movie?"
"Yes, but I like the book more."
"I do too. Although the movie is also fun." Stevens said and changed the bag of blood.
"That is true." Rick said and smiled. Stevens took the chart again and hung it back.
"I have read your books too, you know?"
"You did?" Rick asked surprised.
"I did. I do have one question."
"Ask away." Stevens was done with her check up and leaned against the wall.
"Why did you kill Derrick Storm?"
"You know I get that question a lot?" Rick chuckled. "I got bored of him. I knew what was going to happen every second. And it started to get a bit boring."
"And then you met her." Stevens said and looked at Kate.
"And then I met her." Rick looked at her. He bit his lip and looked at the floor.
"You like her don't you?" Rick looked at Stevens. He was surprised, but didn't want to lie.
"I love her." He admitted and smiled. Just saying it made his heart smile. It felt good to say it. 'I love her'. And it was true. He loved her more than the moon and back. It wasn't to explain how much he loved her. Maybe it was even beyond love, but it didn't have a word.
"She's lucky with a friend like you." Stevens said. "Maybe you could tell her a story." She said and her beeper beeped again. She looked at it and sighed. "I have to go. Something with my interns. See you later maybe?"
"See you later." Rick said and smiled at her. Stevens left the room and Rick looked at Kate again. He put the book back in his bag and decided he was going to tell a story, like Stevens said. But he couldn't think of someone, and reading his own books he found so selfish, se he told the opening of the movie Into The Woods.
"Once upon a time, in a far of kingdom, there lay a small village on the edge of the woods. And it that village........"

Hours later Rick had fallen asleep in the chair. He wasn't that comfortable in the chair, there were better places to sleep.
But he heard something. And it wasn't a dream. 'Rick.' He kept hearing. 'Castle.' A soft voice kept repeating. When Rick realized it wasn't a dream he woke up. He kept hearing it. 'Rick?' He looked at Kate, and her hazel green/brown eyes were looking at him.
"Kate." He said and he sat straight right away.
"What happened?" She asked. Her voice was harsh, and it sounded tired. Kate wanted to stit straight.
"No no, lie back down. I'm going to get a doctor." Rick said and looked out the door. He saw Stevens and called out to her. Stevens turned her head and walked to the room. When she saw that Kate was awake she looked at Rick, and back at Kate.
"Mrs. Beckett, do you remember anything about what happened?" Stevens asked carefully. Kate frowned her eyebrows and relaxed.
"Montgomery." Was all she said and she started crying. Rick had his hands on the side of the bed, and when Kate started crying, she found Rick's hand. He was shocked by her actions, but he held her hand.
"Shh, shh. It's okay." He said to her. It made her calm down and Stevens saw this. It was clear that Kate did remember that she was shot. But they still didn't know if she remembered what Rick said to her.
Kate was still crying and it looked like she couldn't stop.
"I'll be back soon, okay?" Stevens said and walked out the room.
"Cas-Castle." Kate said and Rick looked at her.
"Yes?" He said. She was still holding his hand.
"Could you lay with me?" She asked. It surprised Rick again. Did she hear? But he didn't want to make everyrthing worse.
"Always." He said and she moved a bit. It all hurt, and it was hard. She hadn't gained enough strength yet to move. Rick laid on top of the blankets and had his arm onder Kate's head. Kate hugged Rick tight.
"Tell me a story." Kate said and put her head in the crook of Rick's neck. Rick now knew she was awake for a while now. It isn't possible to be this active after that, but he though she just wanted to let him sleep.
"A story?"
"Yes."
"Euh, okay." Rick said and started to tell a story. Kate listened with all of her attention, and was still a bit sobbing in Rick's neck. But him telling story's seemed to calm her down a bit.
