"Really?" She asked, looking straight at me with her large beady eyes.
"Yes." I said, plain and simple.
"Are you sure?" She asked again, her lips playing a smirk. I saw a look of disbelief in her eyes.
"You're a nurse, aren't you?" I asked sarcastically. She nodded her head and let out a laugh. "Then aren't you supposed to help me, and not laugh at me?" I growled.
She released her laughter, straightened her back, then put on her best 'serious look'. She paused for a few minutes, looking at me in disapproval.
"You're a patient, aren't you?" She mocked me. "Then aren't you supposed to accept my help, and do as I say?" She spat. Red flushed over my cheeks, the embarrassment was sweeping over me.
"Besides, I'm not laughing at you." She said, shaking her head. I looked at her in my confusion What did she mean?
"Then who?" I asked, my voice now a quiet whisper. She cleared her throat and looked at me with those large brown orb-like eyes.
"Louis." She said bluntly.
My eyes widened. I swear I felt my heart skip a beat at the sound of his name. No - it was just my imagination.
"Why?" I calmly asked.
She tilted her head and peered at me, biting her lips.
"Don't take offense to this, but I just don't think you two belong together at all. How Louis ever got you pregnant is a mystery to me, but it's none of my business so-"
"Why don't we belong together?!" I snapped. How could she insult us like that?
I clenched my fist and gritted my teeth, snorting at her like a distressed horse. I didn't care if she'd put a million 'no-offense's', it still hurt.
She jumped backwards and stared up at me, surprised, her jaw hanging open. For a few minutes, she didn't speak, just stood gawping at me. She forced a choke.
"Well, I just- For one thing, you are clearly a rude and angry person, with a very bad temper and a short fuse; Where as Louis is a kind, sweet young lad who just wants to see you get better." She said, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Kind? Sweet?
Pfftt.
"You clearly don't know anything about Louis." I spat, deciding to drool on that topic rather than talk about the fact she'd just called me a 'bad tempered person'. As if!
She looked at me questioningly.
"Louis swears all the time. He doesn't care about anyone else. He forced himself on me." I said, receiving an 'are you sure?' look. "And, to top it all off, he cheated on me!" I barked.
She didn't look at me sympathetically like I had expected her to, she just shook her head and shrugged.
She approached the side of the bed carefully, gently sitting down on the small chair Louis had once been on.
"I don't understand you." She whispered, leaning over to pat my arm. "One minute you're saying you do belong together, the next minute you're slagging him off."
I never said we belong together! I thought, but looking back, I could see I was most certainly wrong.
Oops.
"And now you're going to be having a kid together." She said, smiling.
She looked at me with wide, tired eyes.
"Don't you think he'd be a good dad?" She asked.
I wanted to accept her gentleness. Infact, despite all the nagging and the awkward conversations, I actually liked her like she was a friend...An annoying friend.
But no one is allowed to talk about Louis and I.
No one.
"You're a nurse. Can't you just fix me up a bloody schedule or something for some scans or however it works? I don't wanna sit here and deal with all this crap. I hate Louis, and I'm never going to be with him ever again. So quit talking shit and help me!" I snapped, pushing her arm off me.
She closed her eyelids gently, inhaling a deep breath, before opening them again.
"Fine. Just as long as you stop using such language. And by the way, I'll have to tell Louis that you're pregnant, if he doesn't already know-"
"NO!" I screamed.
She looked at me and rolled her eyes
"Why not? Doesn't he have a right to know, it will be his baby too!" She said.
"He'll have to find out on his own in a few months." I said coldly, lifting my eyebrow and challenging her to a stare.
Some sort of 'friend' I thought she was...
She shook her head in disbelief.
"You are a piece of work, aren't you? And you wonder why nobody wants to come down and visit you." She said, before sitting up. "You'll be pleased to know my shift ends in 15 minutes, then you can go down and see your friend, the one who is in a coma. Then hopefully you'll be respectful and keep your mouth shut."
I rolled my eyes and bit my lips.
"And I'll have to inform a Doctor of your pregnancy, then you'll be spoken to about what you have to do next."
I nodded, sighed, and then muttered a short 'thanks'.
So much talking in just one day, my head was starting to hurt.
I still couldn't get passed the fact that Harry was in a coma, while I was complaining about God knows what.
Maybe it was time to go and see him. Face to face; To apologize for what I had done, even if he couldn't hear me.
The Nurse pointed to a clean pile of clothes next to my bed and then forced a cocky smile. I nodded in return. She then spun around and approached the double doors of the bright white room.
I flung the green blanket off over me and grabbed the pile of clothes, carefully untying my hospital gown. Then I slowly began to pull the pieces of material over my head and legs. It felt so good just to be out of hospital stuff.
When I was finished dressing - A simple top and jeans - I slipped on my shoes and straightened myself out, heading for the same two doors.
I was going to see Harry.
