The rest of the weekend felt like it dragged by. I just wanted to go home, and I wanted to make sure Chris was okay. He didn't call or text me again, and it worried me. I hadn't heard from Eliot either. I didn't want to seem clingy with Chris though, so I didn't text him or anything. I didn't need him accusing me of becoming like Eliot again or something. By the time Sunday afternoon rolled around, I was more than ready to leave as Mom hugged me tightly, feeling anxious to start driving.

"Come back soon, alright? And maybe bring your roommate next time," she suggested with a smile, making me smile back slightly.

"We'll see." I told her. She nodded, giving me one final hug before letting go and allowing me to head out to my car.

"Later dickhead. Say hello to your fuck buddy for me." Lizzie yelled from the back yard, making me roll my eyes as I got into the car.

I had a long drive ahead of me, and I was more than eager to get started.

The apartment was dark when I got in, and I assumed Chris had gone to bed. It was sort of early for him, and I was a little irritated that I had work in the morning, which meant I wouldn't get to spend any real time with him until tomorrow afternoon. But at least I was home and I knew he was alright.

I made my way silently into the bedroom, where Chris was asleep on the bed, bundled up in the blankets. A small smile made its way onto my face as I went into the bathroom to change and brush my teeth before I crawled in next to him, wrapping my arm around his waist. After a second he woke up enough to roll over and curl into my chest, sighing quietly.

"Took you long enough to get here," he murmured. I chuckled quietly, reaching up to run my fingers through his hair.

"Sorry. Traffic was a bitch to get through."

"Excuses, excuses." Chris mumbled. I refrained from rolling my eyes as I bent down to kiss the top of his head.

"Did you have any more problems?" I asked. Chris was quiet for a second at that before exhaling heavily, shifting a little closer.

"You mean did I see Laina again?" he replied. "No, just the one time. I was actually starting to wonder if maybe I was just being paranoid and it wasn't even her. There's no reason for her to be here, so why would it be?"

I hummed to that, because Chris sort of had a point. Eliot had said he would be calling Laina once she got off work, last time I saw him. So I assumed that meant Laina was at the bar in Baltimore, not wandering around New Jersey. I didn't comment on that though and instead settled for kissing the top of Chris's head a few more times, rubbing his back lightly.

"Don't worry about it. Go back to sleep." I told him.

Chris had slept through the alarm again the next morning, which didn't surprise me in the least. Now I was on my way home from work. Unfortunately I'd gotten overtime, and didn't get off until two versus my usual twelve. Not that it was a big deal though, overtime meant more money, and I sure as hell wasn't about to complain about that. Despite the longer working hours, I was in a pretty good mood. Now I got to go home and spend the rest of the afternoon with Chris.

I made my way up the stairs to our apartment when I heard what sounded like two people wrestling. One of the things I hated about apartments were how noisy the neighbors could be sometimes. Once our lease was up, I'd have to talk to Chris about maybe moving into a house somewhere instead. Where I didn't have to listen to loud music at two in the morning and, either wrestling or really busy sex in the afternoon. And from the sounds of it, they were on our floor. Wasn't that just the icing on the cake? I rolled my eyes, pulling out my key for the door when I noticed something.
