It was a windy October morning. I was sitting outside, waiting for the teachers to finally let us into the school. It was freezing (at least according to Texans). I was sitting alone, and I couldn't wait till 6th period.
I had actually made some friends. They were in my band class. I walked up to the band hall doors and stopped when my teacher, Mr. Chitta, asked "What instrument do you play?" I managed to stutter out "Umm... t-trumpet." He looked up " 3rd row." He said in a monotone voice. I quickly took my seat and waited for class to start.
Suddenly, a little boy came and sat beside me. "Hi," he said in an energetic voice, "are you excited? Because I'm excited. I can't wait to start playing. My brother used to play and he said it was SOOOO FUNN!!!!" I looked at him and thought this kid is crazy. He had short, black hair. His skin was a dark tan, and he was REALLY short. He was wearing a red t-shirt and shorts that were baggy and went just past his knees. "Uhh... yea, I guess I'm excited." I said. I suddenly felt the need to talk to him. "What's your name?" I asked. "Oh, sorry. My name's Martin. What's your's?" He asked. "I'm Katie." I said. A new friendship was born.
There was also this girl named Genevieve. We had gotten our chair placements, and I luckily got first. She was second, so of course there was competition. We didn't really talk to each other unless we had to share music or a stand, and I was getting tired of it.
One day I started talking to her in class. It was awkward at first, but she finally started to loosen up. I learned more about her, and she's learned more about me. Not everything, obviously. I would never tell anyone about... the voice. But we slowly became friends. It was nice.
Now, back to the original topic. I was sitting outside, waiting for the teachers to finally let us into the school, when this girl sat down next week me. "Hi." She simply said. I looked over at her. She had short, chocolate colored hair, and was REALLY pale. She was also really tall, and had braces. "Umm... hi?" I said. I looked over at her again. She was wearing a grey Hollister shirt, a blue jackets, boot cut blue jeans, and multi colored Converse. Simple. "What's your name?" She asked. "Katie." I said. After a few moments of awkward silence, I asked, "You?" She looked over at me. "My name's Amber. Sorry if this is wierd. You just seemed lonely." The doors to the school suddenly opened. "I'll talk to you later, ok Katie?" "Um, yea, sure." I said timidly. That was weird. But in a way, it made me feel happy inside.
