Chapter Seven – Day Two: You Think I Can’t See What Kind of Man You Are

It’s seven o’clock when I am woken by repetitive knocking at my door, I groan and roll out of bed then stumble towards the door. I unlock the door and pull it open to find Joey Graceffa standing in front of me looking as immaculate as ever.

“Hey Joey, what’s up?”

He beams at me. “Sorry to have woken you, but Luke sent me to get you. He doesn’t know what room you’re in and he doesn’t know you as well, I mean we’ve only just met but we have emailed on another a couple of times so I offered to come and get you.”

“Em, all right. But what does Luke need me for?” Realisation hits Joey’s face as he remembers he hasn’t actually told me why he’s here.

“Oh right. He’s on the musician’s panel with you today and he wanted to know if you would want to walk down to the convention centre with him.”

“Yeah okay, I’ll meet him at the lift in an hour?” Joey nods and leaves to go and tell Luke the plans.

I strip down and step into the shower letting the water run over me and relax my muscles. I’m more nervous for today than I was for yesterday. Today I am open to being asked questions which could possibly destroy my career before it has started properly.

I step out of the shower and dry myself off before getting dressed into Aztec print bandeau, a pair of rather short denim shorts and a pair of brown wedges. Before I leave the room I grab my bag and turn my vlogging camera on.

“Hello guys! Today is day two of playlist live and I am doing a panel with a bunch of other musicians, including the extremely talented Luke Conard!”  I turn the camera onto Luke and he smiles and waves.

“What’s up guys?” He asks enthusiastically. I laugh at him and turn the camera to face me again.

“Yup, we are on our way down to the convention centre to do a panel about music!” I say singing music and waving my other hand dramatically.

I turn off the camera as Luke and I walk into the lift and fall into easy conversation.

~oOo~

The panel goes quite fast and we’re finished by two o’clock. I decide to go and find Jack so that we can go and get lunch together.

After wondering aimlessly for about half an hour I pull out my phone and phone Jack. After five rings Finn picks up.

“Finn? Where’s Jack?” I asked confused, what’s going on?

“I have no idea Izzy; I’ve been looking for him all day. The last time I saw him was in the hotel room this morning. We’re supposed to be meeting with You Now today to talk about sponsorship and things and he’s already twenty minutes late!” Finn sounds stressed, so I reassure him that we will find Jack and hang up before setting off down another corridor in the conference hall in search of my lost boyfriend.

“”Jack!” I call out as I turn right into a corridor full of brown doors. I continue down the corridor calling out to him.

I see a door to my left move slightly so I walk towards it and pull it open, it’s dark and I can’t see a thing. “Jack, are you in here?” I say as I flick on the light.

My heart stops.

I found Jack.

Jack detaches himself from the blonde girl’s lips and turns to face me slowly, his features filling with horror. He pushes the girl away from him and steps towards me like he’s going to say something.

I raise my hand and choke back the tears. “Don’t. Just don’t. The only thing you need to concern yourself with right now is getting back to your brother. Don’t talk to me ever again, alright?”

As the tears begin to fall I turn and run from the room. I can hear Jack calling my name but the sound of my heart beat in my ears drowns it out.

I run and run and run. Straight to my hotel room. Past all of my fans, probably my ex fans now that they’ve seen me in such a state. Past Louise and Zoe, Sam and Maz, even Caspar and Alfie ask me what’s wrong.

None of that matters now. Because they were his friends first, now they won’t want to be my friends.

I’m all alone once more.

Only this time it hurts so much more.
