Chapter 5: The Secrets Out
I don’t know how long I was out, but thankfully it was long enough for me to eat my ice cream, scream into my pillow about how shitty people are, how internet people are just flawless human beings with great grammar, and totally forget about my homework. Groaning I grabbed Chester and held him tightly to my chest.
“Chester, I’m so happy to have you. I promise that after I graduate high school we can get married.” I said, feeling the warm air blow from under him.
“Well then, I can’t wait to be his best man.” Said Britton from the doorway. Suddenly, I got up and saw Britton leaning against my door frame looking at me. I groaned and rolled my eyes, I was in no mood to talk to him.
“Char, I’m sorry that I actually believed that rumor, but remember when that guy who just used you because our parents were famous,” he said through gritted teeth, “well, I just don’t want to see you get hurt again. Chase is an awesome friend, but he doesn’t seem your type. And plus, I don’t think he would break the bro code.” He finished as he sat down next to me on the bed.
“Bro code?” I asked confused. I’ve heard of the girl code and knew most of the so called “rules” because Emily and Michelle basically drilled me in it, but I just thought the bro code was “bros before hoes”.
“Wow, out of this entire lecture all you get out of it is the bro code? Never mind that. But we’re cool right?” he asked, extending his arms out. Rolling my eyes, I accepted his hug and then Aunt Lucy walked into my room.
“Whoa whoa. Did I miss the family love fest announcement?” she asked as she joined in and we all had a group hug. After my heart couldn’t handle the warm and cuddly feeling anymore, everyone left and I realized one thing. High school might suck, but my brother and Aunt Lucy will always be there.

Thankfully I woke up on time so Chase didn’t have to drop me off at school. Instead Britton and I left early for school so he could make it to football practice and I sat in the library doing my homework that I hadn’t done yesterday.
As I was trying to figure out the purpose of Calculus to my life, both Michelle and Emily came in and sat down next to me.
“Hey Char, you alright from yesterday?” asked Michelle as she wrote the down the answer to the Calculus problem I was having trouble with.
“Yeah, it’s just rumors. As long as I know what the truth is, I’m fine.” I stated with confidence.
“Oh my gosh. That is so true. Preach it sista!” yelled Emily. Both Michelle and I turned to look at her, but Emily was too busy staring at her phone to mind us.
“Emily, what the heck did you just say?” asked Michelle with the most confused look on her face. Emily looked up from her phone.
“Oh sorry. I was just reading that blog I showed you, Michelle.” She replied nonchalantly.
“Oh! Charlotte, you have to read this blog. It’s like you wrote this thing! The blogger is hilarious and candid.” Said Michelle. I guess this was a way for her to cheer me up. Emily handed me the phone and I read the blog post.
Title: High school drama is shit.
Honestly, it’s only 9:00 in the morning and I already want to punch everything that is breathing in my school. People are just so fucking ridiculous sometimes it’s not even funny. Like today for example, I was with this guy and suddenly the entire fucking school just assumes that me and this guy hooked up. Like hold up. Just because this guy hung out with me for like two hours doesn’t me made out. Ok yeah he may be popular and I maybe way, way down under in the high school social system, but that gives you no right to assume shit. You know that phrase “assumptions make an ass out of you and me”? Well that’s basically my life right now.
