Chapter 24: Counting Stars

My eyes darted from Chase to the crowd and back to Chase. His green eyes looked at me, awaiting my answer. Smiling, I pulled Chase up on his feet.

“I would love to be your homecoming date, Chase Parker.” I said as I pulled him and locked lips with him. The crowd around us started yelling and screaming in joy as they ran up to pat Chase’s back. Emily and Michelle appeared by my side and the three of us started jumping up and down like fangirls. Britton was talking to Chase as I slipped my hand into Chase’s.

“This was the best way you could have asked me, Chase. Britton, were you in on this?” I asked as I turned to my brother as he avoided my gaze. Laughing, I punched his arm.

“I still have to go to detention. Mr.Oceansky will kill me if I don’t attend.” I said as I turned to weave my way through the crowd of people, when none other than Mr.Oceansky showed up.

“Charlotte, I hope you know the detention thing was also part of Chase’s set up.” he said as he nodded to my smirking boyfriend. My mouth hung open as I turned to Chase. He shrugged his shoulders in response to my facial expression.

“Chase! I almost had a heart attack thinking what colleges would think of me! God!” I said as I went to hit him, but he easily dodged it, and that’s when the I began to run after him.

“Charlotte Knight! Tell me everything! I mean everything!” exclaimed Aunt Lucy as she ran to the front door, which I had just walked through. My smile hadn’t faltered a bit the entire day.

“How did you know?” I asked, curious as to how my Aunt knew.

“Britton, but stop changing the subject! Come, tell me!” she said as she dragged me and sat on the couch. Her smile was wide and her eyes shown with eagerness.

“Chase asked me to homecoming through this little scavenger hunt.” I said blushing and looking down at my hands.

“No way. That is so cute! I remember your Dad had asked your mom to homecoming by giving her a plastic heart in human anatomy class. They were meant to  be together even then.” She said as she sighed at that thought of her older sister, my Mom, being asked to homecoming.

“Yeah, I guess. I’m going to go up and do some homework.” I said as I grabbed my bag and started up the stairs.

“By homework, do you mean surfing the internet?” Aunt Lucy asked as she looked at me suspiciously with a small grin.

“That’s the only exercise I get, Aunt Lucy.” I responded from the top of the stairs. Grabbing the doorknob of my room, I opened the door into my bedroom and then closed the door behind me. I plopped onto my bed and opened up my laptop. Opening a new blog post, my fingers began to tap away on the keyboard.

Title: Shocker of the Century

Okay, I’m in no way going to deny this, but I am a socially awkward child. Interacting with people isn’t my thing for many reasons, but I don’t think anyone would expect me to have a boyfriend. Yes, an actually breathing living human being of the male species. I guess he is the only one that isn’t stupid or idiotic like most of the teenagers on this planet. But the thing that makes him the human being I have feelings for is his ability to take me for who I am and I couldn’t ask for a better person.

Yeah, I guess this is quite the shocker that I have a boyfriend, but come on people, no one is going to be forever alone.

Sincerely,
