Chapter 17: The Perks of being a Famous Blogger
“Nope. No. No. No! This is not happening. I am not on the news. This is all a dream.” I told myself as I hyperventilated. I pinched myself multiple times to wake myself from this dream, but all I got was a bruise.
“Charlotte, calm down I’m-” Chase started but was cut off by my rant.
“Calm down? Who the fuck can calm down when they’re on the news! I’m pretty sure if the entire United fucking States knews about your secret identity you wouldn’t be calm!” I screeched. Chase’s mouth dropped in awe. Yes, I can yell like that. I’m not quite all the time.
“Okay look, they still don’t know who you really are. So what’s the big deal?” he asked as he scooted closer in attempt to calm me down, but instead my heart picked up pace again.
“The big deal? Well, if anyone does find out who I am, I’ll get famous. And you would think it’s awesome being famous, right? No. I’ve seen my parents. Everybody used to book appointments with them because they were the best doctors in the world, and sometimes fame got to their head and they would leave Britton and I for days. I don’t want fame to change me. I like my life the way it is.” I stated quietly. I looked at my hands and fidgeted with them until I felt two fingers under my chin. Soon I was looking Chase in the eye.
“Charlotte, you’ll never change. You’ll always be a snarky, sarcastic, internet-obsessed girl. And no one will leave you anytime soon, especially me.” He said in a whisper as his breath fanned across my face. His lips were full and pink, begging me to kiss them. As I leaned in to close the remaining space, we were rudely interrupted by a member of the annoying brother species.
“Am I interrupting something?” Britton’s voice broke us apart in an instance. I pushed back until my back hit the arm of the couch while Chase stumbled backwards and hit the ground. In another situation I would have been laughing my ass off, but with Chase so close to kissing me in front of my brother I was scared for the both of us.
“Yo man, you okay?” Asked my brother as he helped Chase up to his feet.
“Um, yeah. I think I should get going. Like, um, now. Bye.” Chase said a hurry as he grabbed his jacket and literally sprinted out the door. My brother looked back from the door to me with a confusion written across his face.
“So you mind telling me what happened?” Britton inquired as he crossed his arms across his chest.
“Um, well, I was, we were, um-” I was cut of by one of Britton’s ridiculous accusations.
“Did you guys do the dirty on the couch?!” He exclaimed, his eyes almost popping out of his head.
“Ohmygosh Britton! You need to stop! I will never get a boyfriend if you keep making these weird assumptions! No, Chase and I did not do the dirty on the couch. We aren’t even a dang couple!” I said in exasperation as I threw my hands in the air.
“Oh god, because I already did on the couch.” He said as he smirked down at me. Jumping off the couch I faceplanted into the wood floor with Britton laughing at me from behind.
“You are a meanie.” I said as he sat down where I originally sat and started flipping through the channels
“So what were you screeching about. That’s what woke me up.” Britton asked without taking his eyes off the t.v.
“Um, well I thought the wifi connection was down so it was a bit of a tragedy for me.” I said running my hand through my messy hair. Britton turned to give me a look, the how-are-you-so-weird look. In return I stuck my tongue at him and went back upstairs. Opening up my laptop again I went to Google I typed in “How to keep a secret identity” and various websites popped up. Clicking on the first one it stated “I should as spiderman, or superman to help me out.” Shaking my head, I closed my laptop and breathed out a sigh. Being famous can have it’s perks right? Then it clicked. Opening up my blog I started a new post.
