What kind of a world do we live in,
When all that's on the news has been,
Reports of kidnapping and violence?
Are we supposed to sit there in silence,
Simply waiting and dreading,
The next western hostage's or aid worker's beheading?
You'd have to be blind not to see the crisis,
That is the terrorist group Isis,
Not Muslim, but it seems to be their specialism,
To warp religion into extremism.
How can it ever be right,
To indoctrinate young men to join the "fight"?
These are not biblical times, a distant period in history,
Stoning unfaithful women, execution, this is the 21st century!
US airstrikes as a way to retaliate and defend,
Either way I simply pray for a peaceful end,
Because between you and me,
No wants a World War Three.
