I can't quite figure out
my feelings
I'll paint you a picture
of mountains and skies
but never show you
the canvas
I'll write another letter
try to word my thoughts
and end up with a page full of
nonsense
I'll make you a universe
full of stars and planets and moons
and leave the black holes somewhere else
because I know you've never liked them
but black holes exist,
stars collapse and burn out
letters get lost and paintings get torn,
but I'll keep writing letters as long as I live
200 a day if I must
because letters get lost in the post
but my heart is already in half
