Chapter 5 .
. Chase's POV .
She looked startled. I didn't want her to know that I was awake. It was pitch black. The kind of black that when you put your hand RIGHT IN FRONT of your face, you can't see it. She didn't know that I could see in the dark. I looked at her lovingly. She looked over at me. I saw her eyes trying so hard to focus on me. She got up, walked to the lamp, and right before she turned it on, I slipped into bed and acted like I was sleeping. She flipped the switch. I stayed still. She looked over at me, tears rolling down her face. She came over and shook me. I looked up groggily; acting like I had just woken up. She told me all about her nightmare.
"Did they inject you with anything today?" I asked, acting tired.
"I-I don't think so." She said, tired.
"Well... go back to sleep. It was a nightmare, not a premonition." I told her, actually tired now.
"You sure?" She asked.
"Yeah. I have those all the time." I lied.
"Okay. Goodnight."
She went to sleep and when she started to snore quietly, I got up and turned the lamp off. She usually sleeps until 9:00. I snuck out of the cell. I do this every night. When I leave, I go to the kitchen to eat. I grab Red a plate and get her breakfast. They won't feed her. So I get her breakfast. I tell her to eat it before 10:00 because they will get mad that she is "still" eating. But the actual reason that they would get mad, would be that she was eating. They want to kill her, I swear.
Once I got out, I went down the cold hallway. There were wooden floors and smooth white walls. I couldn't stop walking if I didn't want to be caught. Last time I got caught, they took me to the lab and did all these horrible tests on me. Since then, I have had a giant scar on my upper abdomen. When I got to the kitchen, I grabbed some pancake mix and some strawberries. I have lived here my entire life.
The cupboard to the right was open now. Me grabbing things as fast as I can. I made the pancakes perfectly before daybreak. I got them to our cell in time. It was about 8:50 A.M. She woke up about 9:10.
"Here's your breakfast." I pointed out to her, while I was writing.
"Thanks. I never would have noticed it." She said thoughtfully.
She ate it quickly and put the plate under her mattress. I always took those back to the kitchen at night. As long as no one finds out, we will both be fine.
I looked at the clock 9:45.
Dang it. I thought time would go by faster. I thought. Why can't we just leave. I can't stand my "Father." He is a crazy psychopath that needs a life.
I wrote for what seemed like hours. I finally looked up to see my "Dad" approaching.
. Daisy's POV .
I looked up and saw the "Boss" standing there, waiting.
"What to you want?" Chase said next to me.
I smiled at him. He knew exactly what I was going to say! He's soooo cute. I thought, dreamily. I wonder if he has a girlfriend...
He smiled back and we stared at each other for a while. I stared into those beautiful green eyes. It was like we had a connection. He didn't look away until the "boss" grabbed his arm and pulled him toward the front of the cell.
When did you come in here? I thought, looking at the "Boss" as Chase said what I had thought aloud. It was as if he could read my mind. No I'm being crazy. It's just a coincidence.
"I can handle this." We both said at the same time.
Nope. Definitely not a coincidence. What was happening. Could he read minds? What else could he do that he hadn't told me yet?
I blinked and right then, I saw through the wall. I looked over at Chase and all I could see was a skeleton. It freaked me out so I yelped, closed my eyes, and rubbed my eyelids furiously. When I opened them, my entire world had went foggy. I didn't know what happened, but I instantly couldn't remember anything that happened before that.
When I woke up there was a man standing at the foot of my bed. There was also a throbbing pain in my head. What happened. I thought, confused. What was I doing before this. I couldn't remember what had happened so I just laid there wondering. the next thing that happened, was the man at the foot of my bed I started to speak. He was blurry so I couldn't really see him. I heard Chase's voice and my entire world start to become happy. I looked over and saw another person entering the room. It was his dad. Or as I like to call him the "Boss."
He came over to my bed and pulled the drapes up. It was a sunny day outside and I wasn't in my cell. Where was I, you ask? I was in the pink room again. What's with me and the pink room? I thought.
The "Boss" walked up in front of the bed and said, "I see that you have awo..."
I cut him off before he could finish. "Ju-Just STOP!" I yelled, "STOP SAYING THAT! It's getting really A-ANNOYING!" I shouted, with a stupid stutter in my voice.
He locked the door behind him and yelled through a microphone clipped on his chest, he whispered quietly, "Lock the door..."
Lock the door? I thought. Why lock the door? He just locked it. I don't want to be locked in here with him... H-He is a crazy psychopath that doesn't know S***!
"Don't say that." Said a voice in my head.
"What the H***!" I yelled out loud.
The voice was back. "Don't worry." It said. "You know me."
Mom? I thought.
"Maybe... I'm sorry... I-I can't tell you."
It sounded loving, like it had known me for a while. I looked over at Chase and he was looking at me... smiling.
"I'm happy you're awake. I was worried. You fainted."
"I fainted?"
"Yeah... You kinda just looked up and fell..."
"Ow... Is that why my head is throbbing?"
"I-I think so. Why did you faint?"
I suddenly remembered the x-ray vision and my mind going blank.
"I-I... I don't remember." I lied.
"Really?"
"Yeah... C-Can I go back to bed now?" I asked.
"Sure. IDIOT?!" He yelled.
"WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?!" The "boss" bellowed back.
"Come on!" Chase yelled, ignoring his question.
They walked out the door swiftly, one after the other. I layed there, wondering what would happen next. A while later, Chase walked in again and looked at me, very lovingly. He walked up to me and put one hand on my face. He leaned in. He pecked me on the lips very softly and said "I love you Red."
He walked out of the room as my cheeks turned red. Red? I realized. M-My cheeks turn red, Maybe... Just maybe... That's why... I thought, as my eyes started to close from all of the crazy things that happened to me today.
