Chapter 2
That night, the "policemen" took me to a room at their "base." When I woke up, I had no idea of where I was. I was in a light pink room with a comfortable bed and lacy curtains. Right next to me were three little buttons.
"Wha... What!? Where am I?! What the heck am I doing here?! I said hurriedly and afraid.
I looked around and fixed my eyes on the buttons. One was red. One was green, and one was yellow. They looked like stoplights to me. I pressed the red one. I didn't know what they did at the time. Right after that, a tall white man in a tux, with black shades on, walked into my room.
"So I see that you have awoken." Said the tall guy after a second.
    "Y-Yeah." I said frightened.
"Project 040997DM has awoken sir." He said into a small microphone attached to his shirt.
Why are those numbers so familiar? I thought to myself. 0... 4... 0... 9... 9... 7... D... M...? Maybe it's a date of some sort. April 9th, 1997...? OMG! It's my birthday date! And DM... It stands for Daisy Matthews!
    "Are you okay?" He asked.
"Huh? O-Oh yeah, I-I was just thinking." I said, stuttering.
Right then, another tall man with a small black beard came into the room. The first man left the room.
"Oh... What a nice surprise. I see you have awoken. Good morning." He said looking at me with a mischievous smile. He made me wonder if I could trust him.
"Um... Yeah. Where am I?" I asked confused. "And why did he call me 040997DM?"
"It's because it's your birth date, and then your initials."
I knew it! I thought. I am sooo ready for whatever they want to put me through.
"Are you ready to begin your training?"
"Sure. What are we doing?"
"Um... We're just testing your powers a "little" bit." He said with a smirk.
"I don't like that smile." I said contently.
"Come on!"
He grabbed my right arm and took me to a lab. I fought back so he took a needle out of his pocket. The next thing I knew, he stabbed the needle into my neck. After that, my memory went blurry. I couldn't see anything. When I woke up, I was in a white room, strapped onto a cold metal bed.
"Help!" I yelled, "Help! Where am I?!"
The "boss" walked in again slowly and started talking to me.
    "When did you wake up?"
"Where the heck am I!!!!!???" I yelled angrily.
"I can not say. You will know soon enough."
He stuck a needle into the inside part of my elbow. The part that they draw your blood from. He drew some blood and dripped some on his hand. He then injected it into his body through his arm.
"What are you doing?" I asked mad and curiously.
"I am going to find out what gives you these powers if I have to kill you to do it. When I am done, I will put you in a cell with a man, about your age, named Chase."
"Are you done yet?" I asked.
    "In a moment."
"What are you going to do to me next?" I ask out of curiosity.
"That's the fun part." He said as he strapped me down more. "I am going to take your shoes now." He said as he took my shoes.
    "What! Why?"
    "Because."
He unstrapped me and told me to go to the door.
"Why did you take my shoes?"
"Go through the door." He said as he pushed me along.
    "W-Why?"
    "Just go!"
He shoved me through the door. There were hot coals on the ground.
"I want you to get across these hot coals without touching them. Use your powers. Take your time. The longer you take, the longer it will take for you to go back to your cell and rest." He said.
"I don't know how to use them!" I said confuzzled. (confused)
"Too bad! I want you to find out how! Control them! Make them work! I don't care how long it takes! JUST DO IT!" He said, sounding like Shia Labeouf.
"I-I can't. I-I don't know how. All I did last time was get angry. And it shot out of my hands." I said, frightened.
"I DON'T CARE!" He said as he left the room and slammed the door behind him.
"Okay... I can do this... Come on Daisy... You can do this." I said reassuringly to myself. I closed my eyes. When I opened them back up, I was ready.
"Okay." I said."Time to do this."
No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't channel my powers. That night I went to my cell. I wasn't tired because the "boss" had put me to sleep so many times. I tried to make them work in my cell. There was this guy named Chase that I tried to talk to though.
"Hey."I said awkwardly.
"Hey." He said back.
"Ummm... How are you?"
"Good. What about you?"
"Ummm... Good. Just got out of a hard day of labor. Why are you here?"
"Because I can do this." He said as he lifted up the bed from the other side of the room and put it back down with just the slightest movement of his hand. Then he ran his hand through his hair. I noticed that when he did that, his hair became wet.
"What can you do?" He asked calmly.
"Um... I-I have fire and wind."
"Wind?!" He asked surprised.
"Yeah."
"Can you show me? Because I showed you my water and earth powers.
"No... sorry. I don't know how. How do you use yours?" I asked curiously.
"Um... I think of my power coming out of my fingers."
"Okay, and?"
"I... Um... Take my thought, and change it into the real thing. Here, try it."
Okay, I thought, Think of the fire coming out of my fingers... I know! I can think of yesterday, when I did it. What was I doing? Oh yeah! I was angry.
"Chase!"
"Yeah?" He asked.
"Make me mad!"
"How?!"
"Just... Make me mad!"
"Why?!!"
"BECAUSE! JUST DO IT!"
"No!"
"YES! DO IT!!!!!" I said as fire flew out of my fingers and burned the rug. And then next thing I know, I'm up, about five feet in the air. Hovering above my bed. I saw what he did there. I finally calmed down and got onto my bed. I was very tired, from all of the screaming and power using. When I used my power, it took concentration to come back down. It was very energy consuming when I was trying to stay afloat. My mind wouldn't stop spinning.
"You okay?" Chase asked politely.
"Yeah... I'm fine." I said, panting.
"You should get some rest."
"You should too." I said.
"G'night." He said shyly.
"Night." I said, as I layed down, sleep overcoming me.
