A/N: So that you guys don't get confused here's a little "key".
The story is first person, however, there will be chapters in which the whole thing is in italics. This is because a character (they shall remain anonymous because spoilers) is telling his/her part of the story. Hope you guys like it (;

Today
Imagine if you could go back in time just to change one little mistake. One little mistake that lead to a horrible tragedy. At first, you don't think it's a mistake. After all, you're just a teenager trying to have some fun, right? But the fun ends when your best friend crashes the party you were at only to find out that your whole family is on the verge of dying.

Two months earlier

"Kaylee, answer my question," I giggled as I stumbled over the sidewalk just outside of the party. "What do you wanna know?" Kaylee raised an eyebrow and nearly spilled her drink on my dress. "Did you kiss her?" I leaned on her arm and tried my hardest to keep a straight face. "I already told you, I didn't. I might've scooped her but no kissing," she rolled her eyes and turned around.

"So what happened with that other girl Jane?" I put a hand to my chest trying to keep from hurling. "Well I told her that I would only pretend to be dating her so that she can dump her crappy boyfriend. Turns out she's bisexual and had a crush on me," she shrugged and took a sip from her drink. "Did you, like, do anything with her?" It's a stupid question to ask considering the fact that it's Kaylee, a lesbian who flirts with every girl she meets.

"Surprisingly, no," she smiled and nudged my arm. We laughed and sat down on the front lawn while everyone else was inside going wild. She started humming 'New Perspective' so I sang softly, only to be interrupted by the sound of screeching tires. We both sat up and saw Sebastian, my best friend since forever, already parking on the drive way. He got out in a hurry, he looked furious yet, tired.

"Kat, what the hell were you thinking?" He rushed towards me and pulled me into a tight hug. "Sebass, I'm fine. I told Johnnie to cover for me." "That's not why I'm here!" He pulled away and I could see the pain in his eyes. He was crying. "Sebass, w-what's going on?" I wiped a couple tears off his cheek with the sleeve of my jacket.

"Did you even think to answer your phone?! Almost everyone we know has been trying to get a hold of you while you're here getting wasted," he took the cup out of my hand and smelled what was inside. He sighed and his eyes started filling with more tears. "Get in the car," he said in the calm voice he always uses when he's about to say something devastating. "No, I want you to tell me what's going on," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

Kaylee stood next to me and whispered softly, "I think you should go with him, I get the feeling something bad happened," she looked up at Sebastian. "What about you?" "I'll see you tomorrow, my mom is probably awake already wondering where I am," she kissed my cheek and headed for her car.

I gave a small smile and looked back at him. "Get in the car, please." I shook my head, "I want you to tell me-" "Your parents and Johnnie are in the hospital, Kat!" My mouth dropped and my vision started to get blurry. Nausea took over. I grabbed onto Sebastian's shirt, trying to keep my balance. "You're lying. W-what are you even talking about?" I knew he wasn't lying, but the part of me that didn't want to believe him was controlling me.

"There was a fire, they're at the hospital right now and we need to get there." If it wasn't for him catching me I would've fallen and thrown up all over myself. Everything felt as if it were a dream. A dream where I had to wake up soon, or I'd be stuck here forever.
