It's been said that the eyes are a gateway into a person's soul and that you can tell a lot about a person from their eyes alone. The man on the ground with a fear filled expression looked into the eyes of his attacker, but all he saw was merciless pools of hazel with slits for pupils, resembling that of a reptile. In the dark alley his attacker raised their hand and brought it down onto the man's neck. Claws met skin and blood gushed from the man's neck. He died in a matter of seconds.

Another man stood just outside of the alley having just watched the whole scene unfold. He was much younger, only 18. His bright blue compassionate eyes watched the figure standing in the alley and examining its handiwork. The man chuckled a bit "Did you really have to let them see you Raven?" He asked the figure.

The figure turned around and walked from the alley to the man, claws and scales retracted into small calloused hands, the pupils returned to their normal circular shape, and the long fangs returned to human teeth set into a wide smile. "It's more fun when they think they're being killed by some kind of demon. They always say the funniest things or start praying and trying to ward me off. Do you remember that one guy that fainted?" The young girl asked. A young girl of only 15 who had just slaughtered five grown men in an alleyway with so much as a flick of her wrist.

Dave smiled "Yes I remember that one..." He shook his head and looked down at the girl, standing more than a head taller than her. "Raven... Maybe you shou-"

She cut him off. "Was the girl safe?" Raven asked anxiously, that was the whole reason she had to attack those men in the first place.

Dave nodded. "Yes she was safe. Her clothes were torn from where they tried to force them off and she had a couple bruises but there was no serious harm" He answered, as Raven opened her mouth he beat her to her next question. "No she didn't see anything, I sent her running, the cops will be here soon..."

Raven nodded. "Alright, they can get rid of the bodies. C'mon lets go to the motel." She began walking at a brisk pace, ready to turn in for the night. Dave jogged to catch her and grabbed her shoulder. Raven involuntarily flinched and froze in place. Dave pulled his hand away like he'd touched a burning stove. After traveling together for so long one would think he'd remember not to do that.

"Raven..." He started gently "Maybe you should start leaving these drunken thugs to the cops? Killing them seems hardly fair." Dave suggested.

Raven clenched her fists, "If I didn't kill them they'd eventually try to rape some other defenseless girl! I refuse to let that happen!" She snapped.

Dave nodded his head "Alright Rae..." Raven then started walking again in silence, her hazel eyes trained straight ahead.

Off in the distance sat a man in a tree, a pair of high tech binoculars held up into his eyes as he watched the young guy and girl walk along the dark streets. He grinned evilly and gripped the sheathed blade held to his hip of his dark armor. "Prepare to die filthy halfbreeds." he spat and quietly jumped from the trees and dashed after the pair.

Raven walked with her hands behind her head. Her chocolate colored curls would slip through her darkly tanned fingers. She glanced over at her companion who walked beside her in silence. His muscles were clear on his lighter skin even in the dark. His short black hair stood still on his head and Raven had to look away as she felt her cheeks heat up. Her and Dave had been traveling together for over almost three years now and the crush she had on him had yet to go away. Raven mentally sighed, they were friends and partners, a relationship would only complicate matters and Raven couldn't have that.

The pair continued their walk until they reached a shady motel that looked like something the cops would visit on a daily basis, but it was all they could afford. Dave pulled the key from his pocket and unlocked the door. They stepped into the small room and Raven flicked the light on. The room was dimly lit and smelled of cigarettes and cheap liquor, but their was a bed and a couch, a place for each of them. Raven picked up her duffel bag at the foot of the bed and walked into the bathroom to change. Dave nodded at her and took off his shirt after she left. He dug through his own duffel for a pair of sweats instead of his athletic shorts he was wearing, that was when the door was kicked open. Dave hopped to his feet and looked at the man who had just forced his way in. He was covered from the neck down in black lightweight armor made for stealth and fighting. Dave snarled at the intruder "Slayer."
