I wake up slightly confused and then remember last night's events. Quietly, I went down the stairs to the kitchen. My aunts, my cousins, and my dad were all talking in the kitchen while Aunt Julian made breakfast.
"Hey Eric" my dad said with his hand on my shoulder."I was thinking maybe you could call me something else"
"Uh yeah sure we'll talk about it" he said seeming irritated.
"I also was really hoping I could get some more clothes and maybe a haircut I was thinking maybe some bangs would be really cute or...."
My dad slammed his fists on the table. His face shows instant regret when he sees my shock he isn't usually like this.
"Eric do you not realize what just happened. I just left your mother, our family and I'm not so sure if we'll go back, can we focus on something other than your gender right now? I understand this is hard but we'll figure something out.""Mark.." Aunt Julian started.
My dad left the room.
"Alright, I think we'll all go on a little outing to the mall" she said.
"I'll drive" my other aunt Kat said waving the keys while sipping her coffee.
When we arrived at the mall I immediately went to the girl's section of my favorite store. To my surprise Sam was there arranging a display, I didn't know sh....they worked here.
"Sam" I exclaimed.
"Hey" they said excitedly "you look really pretty, how did things go with the 'rents""Oh well me and my dad moved out but it's okay my aunts are really cool...could you help me find some clothes"
"Actually I'm a little busy right now but my break is in a few minutes we could go to the food court and then come back and shop"
"Okay I'll be here waiting"
I think I finally have an actual friend not like the kids I played with in grade school who stopped talking to me when I started "being gay".
"Ok kid let's go get something to eat" they put their arm around my shoulder and walked to the food court with me.
I ate really fast since there probably wasn't much time in Sam's break.
"Do you think I look good in blue" I asked.
"Yeah... but I really like that light purple on you"
After finding a lot of very cute clothes I sat down with Sam and we talked.
"What do you think my name should be" I asked while playing with my hair it's down to my jaw now I can't wait until it's long.
"Leah it suits you" they said.
"Leah.."
Leah sounds like a pretty girl who has the perfect outfit for every occasion and shoes to match. I want to be Leah. I will be Leah.
