Recap-"The place where it all began"

I looked at Alyssa. "You're telling me Loki's been under our noses this whole time?" I asked her. "Not exactly." Alyssa said. "Out with it Al." Camryn said. "Pay attention to flying the jet! I don't need to die on a mission to save my friends little brother!" I told Camryn. "Calm your tits. I've been doing this since I was 10." Camryn said. I shook my head at her, and turned to Alyssa. "So where is Les?" I asked her once again. "He's in New York." Alyssa said. "Where?" I asked. "Manhattan." She said. "Okay. Brooklyn. Spent plenty of time there, only problem is I haven't been there in over 100 years, and everything's changed." I said. "That's the twist. He's not in Brooklyn. He's in 19th century Manhattan." Alyssa said. I froze. "You're telling me, that this mythical god has taken Les back in time to Manhattan?" I asked. Alyssa nodded. "Calm down. You're eyes are turning violet." Alyssa said. I glared at her. "Don't tell me to calm down. My little brother is back in time with some psycho god!" I said throwing my hands up. "I thought Race was your brother." Alyssa said. "Her and Les have a special connection. They were both there for each other when nobody else was." Camryn explained. Alyssa nodded. "So how are we getting to Les?" I asked. "We time travel of course." Camryn said before pressing a button.

Everything was in slow motion. It felt as if time had stopped. Suddenly my ears were filled with the hawking of headlines, bringing tears to my eyes. I looked out the window. I was home. "It so looks so different." Alyssa said, walking over to me. "It's exactly how I remember it." I told her. "Was it hard? Getting used to the fact that everything you once knew was gone?" Alyssa asked. "Yea. I never truly got used to the fact that I would never see Medda again, or see Pulitzer at the Newsboys events at Irving Hall, but I never truly got used to the fact that all my friends were gone."I told her. Alyssa placed a hand on my shoulder. "Won't everybody see us in a flying ship?" I asked Camryn. She laughed. "Not if we're invisible." She said, turning a nob. "You know this place like the back of your hand. Where would Loki have taken him?" Alyssa asked. "He would have taken him to a place that had something to do with me. That could be anywhere. He'd wanna break me, make me want to cry, he'd want me to remember my past- son of a bitch." I said. "What is it?" Camryn asked. "Give me the wheel." I said, taking the wheel from her hands. I flew us toward the Lodging House. However for me, it was selling hours meaning I had to stay hidden. "Okay. There's an empty cellar below the Lodging House. We have to go inside to get to him though. We have to stay hidden. Any sudden noises, and either Specs, Jack, Race, Mush, Blink, or Sarah will be there to check it out." I said.

The three of us made our way out of the ship, but something blue caught my eye. I put a finger to my lips, and grabbed the blue object. "Hey! What gives? Let me go!" Becca shouted. I looked at her. "What the hell are you doing here?" I hissed. "Saving Les." Becca said, with a 'duh' expression on her face. "No you're not. You're going back home." I told her. "You listen here Hope Faith Higgins. I am going to save Les, with you because you are Race's sister, and I promised him that I would bring you home safe. You may not believe me but he cares about you. He was under a spell. They all still care. You've been hurt, you've been betrayed, you've been broken. You've been hurt too many times to see that they all still care. I don't know about Spot, but I do know for sure about Race, Blink, David, Jack, and Alicia. So you are going to let me come, or so help me Hades, you will be 50 feet under having tea with your older brother." Becca said. I looked at her shocked. "So much fire from such a tiny body." Camryn whispered. "Same goes for you Evans." Becca said. Camryn held her hands up in defense. I looked at Becca. "Fine. You get hurt, hurt them back. You get killed, walk it off." I told them. They rolled their eyes at me. "Okay, enter through the back. We'll come to a hallway, left will lead to the bunks, right will lead to the cellar." I told them. They nodded. I led the trio into the Lodging House, and our ears were met with the sounds of rowdy teenage boys. "WE WON! HEY BOYS, GO GET THE BOX OF HAVANA'S FROM UNDER RACE'S BED, AND HIS DECK OF CARDS!" Jack yelled running into the Lodging House. "YOU'SE HAD A BOX OF HAVANA'S AND DIDN'T TELL ME?!" Snipeshooter yelled. "You can beat each other up later, now's the time to celebrate." Jack said, pointing at the younger boy. I laughed. "Just like Race. Never tells anybody anything." I muttered. Becca glared at me.

"Hey what are you doing back here? Shouldn't you be celebrating?" Race's voice, asked coming closer to the quartet. "She left." Spot said. I froze. "She left me. We had made plans. Sitting under the stars wishing everything was normal. We didn't have to work. We could be normal kids, and have fun. Instead we have to work our asses off for rich men who think they can jack up the prices and not even consult us about it." Spot said. Camryn, Alyssa, and Becca were shocked. Nobody had ever seen or heard of this side of Spot Conlon. I felt tears welling up in my eyes. "She'll be back." Race said. "What if when she does come back, she has a husband on her arm, and a child on her hip. What if she comes back 10 years from now, and forgot all about me. I've dealt with shit like this before Race. I don't want to go through it again. I had finally found my forever, and now she's gone." Spot said. Luna felt a tear escape her eye. "I've known Luna my whole life. She's had crushes and boyfriends before, but aren't like the others. I see the way she looks at you, she loves you. She's been through a lot this month, she just needed to escape. She'll be back, and within a years time, you'll be hitched." Race said. Spot chuckled. "Come on, we've got booze to drink." Race said, walking back to the other boys. It took a minute for Becca to realize that Race was shirtless and when she did, she was a horny teenage mess. "Holy shit you're brother is hot!" Becca said her eye wide. I laughed, and looked at the boys, wanting to take one last look at them before she went back to 2012. Mush had his arm slung around Blink, who had his hands in a weird place like they always were. Crutchy was lying down on the couch trying to stretch out his leg. Skittery was hugging the life out of Tumbler like if he let go, his little brother would die. Bumlets was attempting to spin on the ceiling fan, but failing. Boots was hitting the boys in the back of the head with his slingshot, blaming Spot. Snipeshooter was trying to sneak one of Race's cigars and failing. Race was shuffling the cards, laughing as he told the younger newsies jokes. Finally Spot. Spot was sitting in the corner, talking with Jack, as he drowned his problems in booze.

I shook my head, and the four of us made our way down stairs. I heard the tapping of their heels on the floor, and I glared at them. "Next time we go back in time to an old building, wear shoes that don't make any noise." I told the three. "Yes mother." They replied. "Don't call me mother." I snapped. They didn't say anything after that. We reached the cellar and I felt a change in temperature. Going from upstairs it was about 101 degrees, but down here if felt as if it was -4. "I was wondering when you would finally show up." A cold, almost British like voice said. I glared at the air. "Show yourself." I said. "Oh! Feisty! Like a girl version of, me." the voice said. "Luna, go. Save yourself!" Les shouted. "Shut up brat!" the voice said. The sound of skin-on-skin contact met my ears. "I'll show my self, if you all take off your weapons." The voice said. I looked at the three behind me. "Well in order for us to take off our weapons, we'd have to take off our skin, and I don't think anyone would want to see that." Camryn said. "I was talking about those necklaces and bracelets you all are wearing." The voice said. I felt my hand go up to my neck. Around my neck sat two rings, my parents wedding rings. "I can't. I'm sorry." I said. "Oh that's too bad. Guess you don't want the boy." Loki said. I took a deep breath. I reached behind my head and unhooked the clasp. "Promise you'll give us everything back?" I asked, collecting the others keep-safes. "I swear on my brother that I'll give them back." Loki said. "Remember Loki can't be trusted." I heard Nat say through my ear-piece. "You're ear-pieces, hand them over." Loki said. I nodded, and took out the ear-piece. I gave everything to Loki. He chuckled, and walked into the light. I was shocked at what I saw. Loki was nothing like I thought. What made me angry, was that Sean and Loki's eyes were similar. They both had a coldness to them. It only made me hate Loki even more. "Now, can I have Les back?" I asked him. "No." Loki said, before things started to fly at us. They looked like a mix between, a pit bull, snake, and a decaying body. "God-damn it!" I shouted, throwing a ball of violet mist at the things. Loki was nowhere to been seen. He left Les alone where I could easily grab him.

"Ring around the roses,

Pocket full of posies

Ashes, Ashes,

You all fall down"

The voices filled my head. I couldn't get them out. I fell to the floor, covering my ears screaming. "You've reached the end of the line." was the last thing I heard before everything went black.
