Minion of the Swarm

CHAPTER TWO: Evolve

"You will evolve..."
That is what the voice had said and that was why Claw was in a under ground cavan beneath the hive's Spawning Pool with his twin and a hord of other Zerglings. It had been five days since Claw and all the other Zerglings had hatched. During that time they had done little except run patrols and stand guard around the crysalis but yesterday while running patrol, Claw had seen a small group of Zerglings approaching the Hive Cluster. As they got closer Claw could sense them though the Hive Mind link and though that link he knew that he had never seen these Zerglings before and that they were different from any of the other Zerglings. His thoughts were confirmed as the Zerglings run past him faster then he or any of the other Zerglings at the Hive could run. These new Zerglings also showed signs of injury, some old and some not. It was not long after they had arrived that the greater presence that always lingered in Claw's mind commanded him and all the other Zerglings to go into the great chamber beneath the Spawning Pool. And once there it had told him to evolve.

"Evolve?" Claw thought. He and the other Zerglings had been down here for almost a day and something had yet to happen! Claw stretched his back out, it was quite cramped in this cave with fifty restless Zerglings around him. It was then that Claw heard something, it was a small dripping sound and it seemed to be coming from above. Looking up at the roof Claw a green liquid dripping from a hole in the center of the roof directly beneath the Spawning Pool. The dripping stopped for a minute and then suddenly from the hole, a huge green cloud of gas desended upon the Zerglings. As Claw breathed in the gas he felt a huge and sudden change inside him. He felt his senses sharpen and he felt his muscles strengthen and grow. He felt the want to run and fight, to tear lesser creatures apart and to feast on their flesh. Shaking himself to try and calm himself down Claw then heard that voice inside his head again.
"Now... you will fight... "
The creep that covered the entrance to the cave parted to let the Zerglings out.
"Go my minions... and bring swift death to all who oppose the swarm!"
Claw and the other Zerglings all let out blood curdling screechs before pouring out of the cave like the wave of death that they were.
