***Author's Note***
So I wrote this a few years ago when everyone actually liked Nicole at first and whatnot so bear with me okay thanks :3

Chloe's POV:

I was on a mission. I knew exactly what I had to do. I was already zoning out as Josh lead me around introducing me to some of his friends that I half-heartedly greeted and thanked them for coming.

I had to somehow get to Matt and speak with him alone. To finally make a peaceful end to our crumbled relationship so that we could both start anew with no regrets, and no guilt. I was about to politely excuse myself from speaking with Josh and the members of a band he had been writing a song for, but I realized that I could hardly walk without his support.

Best as I could, I reached up and tapped him on the shoulder when he had finished talking. He looked down and grinned slighty.

"Yeah?" He asked as he adjusted his arm around my waist for support. Everytime he did that I was instantly filled with butterflies.

"Um..." I could feel my cheeks getting hot as they blushed; "Think you could bring me back to the couch so that I can grab my crutches? There's someting I want to do." He stared into my eyes for a moment, as if he were trying to read into my mind to see what I was up to but he simply nodded as we began to walk over to the couch.

At this point, Ian and Kim were seated there, enjoying some wine as they talked about something that had happened earlier that morning while walking their pug. As soon as we reached the couch, Kim jumped up and handed me my crutches. I smiled thankfully and she nodded and smiled before taking her place beside Ian once again. Josh made sure that I was stable before he went to get some snacks or something. He could always tell when I needed to be alone, even if I wasn't in a bad mood.

I drew in a deep breath and gazed around my apartment, searching for that wavy dark brown hair and sure enough, I found it and its owner, standing next to the bouncy curly blonde hair. Well that was easy. I nervously began making my way through the crowded living-room to where he was standing with Nicole. Here goes nothing.

"Hey Matt!" I tapped on his shoulder as I attempted to speak over the chattering of everyone around us, it was as if we were in a club or something. He turned and almost looked full of guilt as he took a step from Nicole and towards me.

"Uh hey!" He stammered as he regained his composure.

"Think we could go talk somewhere; in private?"

Matt's POV:

Chloe's words hit my gut like a thousand knives. I couldn't help but think of the worst thoughts. Why did she want to speak in private? A million different scenarios of what was about to happen were buzzing through my head until she touched my shoulder and giggled and they all stopped.

"Matt, don't worry!" Was all she had to say before smiling and lighting up those blue eyes of hers for me to calm down. I chuckled nervously and followed her as we went onto the empty balcony at the rear of her apartment.

We stepped outside and were greeted by a warm breeze as I closed the sliding door behind us. My stomach was twisted with butterflies, despite her telling me not to worry, I was definitely worried. Just as I was wondering how long we would stand in silence at the railing of the balcony, she finally spoke.

"Things have been pretty weird lately huh?" She asked as she stared into the distance of the seemingly endless lights of Vancouver.

"Yeah I suppose so." I responded cautiously, still confused as to where this conversation was going. She continued:

"Listen," She turned and looked me in the eyes as she leaned against the railing for support as the wind blew her hair ever so slightly.

"I can tell that you like Nicole." My heart stopped. There it was. I felt my face draining of any color that it once had as my stomach dropped. But then she did something that made everything seem to freeze in time. She smiled before continuing once more. "And I can tell that she likes you too." I could feel my jaw drop in pure amazement of this conversation. What the hell was going on? The only thing I was able to manage to say was:

"Really?" At this she just bursted out laughing as she nodded.

"Really! And honestly, with you so busy, Josh and I.." She trailed off as she looked down in guilt and embarrassment. Now it was my turn to be strong. I walked over and wrapped my arms around her.

"I know, I know." I could feel her back tremble as she cried into my shoulder, as the weight of tension over the past few months was released. She did so silently which made me hug her tighter to my chest.

"It's okay!" I pulled back and lifted her chin with my finger so that she would look me in the eyes.

"You have Josh, I have Nicole. Everything works out. No hard feelings?" I smiled and blue eyes brightened as she carefully wiped the tears from her eyes without messing up her makeup.

"No hard feelings."
