Medical ninjas were running everywhere. "We need a gurney!" was shouted at younger medics or ninjas helping out.
Gaara was coming back to Konoha but he wasn't alone. On his shoulders he supported my former Anbu teammates, besides Sasuke. I ran to go help. Each of them was in worse shape than the last.
"What happened out there?" I asked Kiba as I started using healing ninjustsu on his crushed abdomen.
"He's strong, but we were stronger." He rasped out as blood flooded into his lungs. "We got him Hinata." Relief flooded over me until Kiba started coughing blood. I worked faster concentrating a strong steady flow of chakra into Kiba. Soon enough he was stable and was able to be taken to the hospital for further treatment.
I went around checking on the others making sure that they were okay and then I came to Gaara. In that moment I realized that Sasuke wasn't among the team.
"Gaara." I swallowed back a lump stuck in my throat. "Where's Sasuke?"
"He wasn't with the group. I've sent a team of Anbu Black Ops looking for him, but Hinata, I think you need to prepare yourself for the worst." His eyes looked at me sadly.
Darkness washed over me and my knees gave out. Before I could hit the dirt Gaara had his arms around me pulling me tight against his chest. I clutched at his shirt as sobs racked my body uncontrollably as the reality of my mistake of telling him goodbye stabbed me continuously in the chest. "NO!" I screamed over and over. Gaara didn't say anything he merely held me and let me cry. The darkness closed in and I blacked out.

The next morning I woke up in my bed with someone holding my hand. Sasuke! I looked over to see Gaara holding my hand as he slept with his head on the side of the bed his body in a chair. He must have felt me shift because in an instant he was up looking me over with worried eyes.
"Hinata?" He asked and tried to continue but I cut him off.
"I'm fine. I promise." I squeezed his hand. He didn't look convinced but nodded and got up and walked towards the door.
"I'll let you get dressed. I'll go make breakfast." With that he left my room and soon enough I could hear him clacking dishes together in the kitchen.
I showered and got dressed my body feeling numb.
He is alive. He just doesn't love you anymore and wants nothing to do with you. A voice whispered in my mind.
No that's not true. I answered back.
He left you alone because he HATES you.
Tears brimmed my eyes and again I went into hysteria crying out Sasuke's name.
"SASUKE! SASUKE!!!!" Gaara ran upstairs and instantly had me in his arms smoothing my hair trying to comfort and quiet my cries for my loved one.
Once I settled I ate and went on with my business going and visiting what was left of my Anbu team first having to convince Gaara I was okay.
"I'm fine Gaara. It just hurts a little." I lied.
I first visited Kiba.
"Aren't you a sight for sore eyes." Kiba teased smiling as I walked into his room.
"It's nice to see you well again." I smiled back but it quickly faded. "What happened?"
"To sasuke?" Kiba asked, then sighed and closed his eyes. "He took the most damage of us all. He went against the demon full force. He fought so hard for you Hinata, but it wasn't enough; Asura over powered him and he was killed. I'm sorry." Kiba's own eyes were filled with unshed tears as he recalled the horrific events of the battle.
