I entered the room the vampire was being kept in. She was asleep. She had torn the movies out of the entertainment center, the books off the bookshelves. The doll houses were all in places. A few of the Littlest Pet Shop toys had been knocked over or thrown to the floor. The clothes from the closet were off their hangers, thrown on the bed, onto other shelves, or on the bed. The jeans that had been folded and neatly stacked were on the floor, too.
She had made quiet the mess.
In a sense, I was mad. I would have to clean it up. I would have to alphabetize it all. I would have to color code it. But, at the same time, I understood it. She was scared. She had woken up with a headache to a place she had never seen before. She was rebelling. She was trying to cope.
I had put her in a situation that she wasn't familiar with, a situation that she didn't know how to handle. So, she had destroyed everything that she could reach.
With a sigh, I set to work. I started with the books, knowing that those were the easiest to sort out. It was simple, really. Sort the books into the category of authors. Alphabetize the authors by name. Then alphabetize the author's books by titles.
I would move to the movies next,
