Draculaura

When I sat up, a man was standing at the other end of the room, leaning back against the door. Even though I was dressed, I felt exposed, knowing for a fact that this man had been watching me sleep. I moved to pull the blanket up around my chest, but it wasn't there. I looked around. I didn't have a pillow case. The mattress didn't have any sheets.

"Boss made me take them away. I didn't want to, but she says it's a punishment for you making a mess," he said. His voice was low and rough, like he had been punched in the throat one too many times. He was tall and buff. The darkness of his skin let me know that this was the man that had taken me.

"We have a few rules, too. Rule one is that you have to eat something. You haven't eaten since you've been here. I need to know what you want to eat," he said. I crossed my arms over my chest. He was insane if he thought I was going to speak to my kidnapper. "I only took you because of, well, two reasons. First, Boss told me to do it. And you always do what Boss says to do. Bad things happen if you don't do what you're told," he said softly. "And second, you gave me a perfect opportunity to take you. As long as you were with Caleb, you were safe. You were practically untouchable. But as soon as you left his house, left his property, you were free game," he said.

I frowned. "So I brought this on myself?" I asked, my voice quiet.

He nodded. "Basically."

"Oh."

"What do you want to eat?" he asked.

"I'm not hungry."

"You have to eat to survive."

"I'm half vampire, you dimwit. I can survive for a while without food," I said.

"I'm not allowed to leave this room until you tell me what the hell you want for food," he said.

I shrugged before falling to my back on the mattress. "I guess you'll be here for quite a while," I said, draping an arm over my eyes. I wasn't going to make his body guarding duties any easier. He wanted to make my life a living hell? Fine.

I could make his even worse.
