Lunch
1st Day of School

I walked into the cafeteria, my heart pounding so fast I thought it'd burst. I glanced around at the few kids there.

I walked over to the nearest table and sat down, while piles of kids started to rush in like the waves of a tsunami. I was so thankful that I had gotten there before them; it would have been awful to try and find a seat.

I grabbed my notebook and pen, and started doodling away. Within seconds my page was nearly filled with abstract leaf designs. I was deep in "the zone" while working on a maple leaf, so I barely heard someone clear the throat.

I glanced up.

"Hey, September. Is it alright if I sit with you?" The familiar wisteria haired boy asked.

I simply nodded and sent him a tiny smile, for a fraction of a second.

"Wow, did you draw those? They're really good," Michael said, in awe, at my dumb little drawing.

I flipped to the next page and wrote, Yeah, I love to draw.

While I wanted to say:
Really? Thanks! Drawing is my passion, but I'm typically really shy about showing other people.
