The next morning Hikaru was making breakfast for everyone. He loved to cook for his parents but this was the first time he cooked for Ayato and Tomoya. He made eggs and bacon for everyone but knew Ayato couldn't eat much so he made oatmeal for him. He set the table and plated the food just as his parents walked into the dining room. "Morning ma, pa!" he said happily.
"Morning Hikaru" Kadae said happily "everything smells wonderful!"
"Morning kiddo! And hai everything does smell wonderful!" Ikuto added
He grinned "well take a seat and I will wake up..."
"Mornin'" came the tired voice of Tomoya. He had stayed up all night trying to calm Ayato at almost every hour of the night as his brothers nightmares kept coming up.
"Morning Tomoya! How did you sleep?" he asked his friend.
He sighed "well...I didn't get much sleep. I had to wake Ayato up quite a few times. But he is finally sleeping so please don't wake him yet. He needs to sleep..." he murmured.
He nodded "ok..." he looked at the oatmeal "I guess I will put this back on the stove for now..." he murmured and did just that.
Kadae looked at Tomoya "how long has Ayato been suffering from nightmares?" she asked.
He only shrugged "I don't really know. I know he was afraid of the dark and had some nightmares when he was little. But I don't know how frequently he has them..." he sighed and sat at the table.
She frowned but sighed "I may have something at work that could help him if you are willing to let him try it out" she said gently.
He sighed "I don't know...our father will have to be the one to give you that answer but I know he will say no..." he muttered.
Hikaru frowned "why would he say no? Ayato comes to school and is always tired. Maybe the nightmares are frequent and he suffers through them every night! He needs something that can help him..."
"Help...who?" came the quiet weak voice of Ayato who had just woken up.
He wrapped an arm around his brother "help you sleep baka..." he said gently and ruffled his hair earning a tired glare.
Hikaru smiled "morning!" he went to him and kissed him deeply much to the others surprise.
Kadae and Ikuto looked at each other with smiles while Tomoya rolled his eyes.
He blushed "H...Hikaru..." he was cut off by a finger to his lips.
"I love you Ayato. I love you so much" he murmured causing the younger male to blush more.
Love...that's all he ever wanted. But...he was afraid of it as well. All his suicide attempts, all his suffering, everything was preventing him from loving himself. He feared relationships. Even though he and Hikaru already made love, he was still afraid of the commitment. He knew Hikaru's words were true, but he just couldn't find it in him to fully believe them. Three simple words caused great pain to him. He sighed "I...I'm going to go out for a bit..." he pulled away from Tomoya and walked outside.
All four of them looked at each other. They were confused, well Tomoya wasn't. He knew it was hard for his brother to make commitments. He knew how hard it was to hear those simple words.
They sat and ate, conversing about their goals for the day. Hikaru had to go to school, Ikuto and Kadae had to go to work and Tomoya, well he had some things he had to get done. One of those things was having to talk to his father.
He sat alone on the porch smoking. He picked that habit up freshman year in high school. Cutting came in the first year of middle school. He also had to go to school...but he would have to go home to get his stuff. He feared going home though. He feared his father. He slowly stood after finishing his cigarette but soon everything went black as he passed out.
