My alarm clock woke me up, I quickly got dressed. I went to my bathroom to straighten my hair. When I looked in the mirror I noticed a gash in my forearm.
How the hell did I not notice that when I woke up? I lightly touched the cut, blood dripped into the sink. For a really deep cut there was not that much blood at all. When did this even happen?
It didn't feel like a normal cut. It didn't sting or hurt at all. My arm was really cold around the warm blood. I was kind of tempted to hit it. The weirdest part was in the middle of it there was a solid black straight line through the blood.
I had to hide it so I lightly wrapped it and put on a long sleeve shirt to hide it. I'm definitely asking Austin about this. Mom wasn't in the living room so I was in the clear for now.
When I walked into chemistry, Austin was sitting at our lab table. I put my stuff down and sat down in my chair, I kept my voice in a hush tone, "About what you said yesterday... what did you mean by strange?"
Austin shrugged, "Out of the ordinary, not normal. Why?"
I tried to hide my fear, "Well when I got home yesterday I was perfectly fine and then out of no where I almost passed out or something. Then I looked in the mirror and my eyes were red instead of blue. And this morning I woke up with this weird cut on my arm that I still don't understood."
Mr. Watifer walked in, "Okay, everyone your projects are due at the end of class. So get started."
Austin picked up a small jar of a white powder, "What don't you understand about the cut?"
I opened my notebook, "Well it's really deep and I have no idea how it got there. It doesn't hurt or bleed like a normal cut, plus there is a black line through the middle of it."
He poured a purple liquid over the powder, "Is your arm cold, like freezing cold, but the blood really warm."
I nodded, "How did you know that?"
He looked at me, "Its a sign. I had a cut like that once. You'll be fine."
I picked up a pinkish liquid handing it to him, "If it's a sign, what does it mean?"
He took the liquid from my hand, "It means your important right now."
I looked at him a little scared, "Important to what?"
Austin put the foaming mixture down, "That's kind of a gray area, but they tagged you so they don't get confused."
My eyes got big, "Tagged... They..."
He looked up at me, "This is what I was afraid of . Now that your 'powers' are showing up, they either think your a threat or they plan on using you." He put air quotes around 'powers'.
Still confused I asked, "What powers? This is not making any sense to me."
He answered, "When I said you were different this is what I meant. Macey would probably be better to ask. Long story short your not exactly one hundred percent human, your about seventy-five or fifty."
I looked at him, "Excuse me... Wait if you had the cut thing then are you not all human or something?"
He poured a blueish liquid into a bigger jar, "Everyone has something that's less than human inside them. That's why we do bad things. But your more close to one. I got tagged because they used me to get to someone." He looked some what depressed talking about it.
I added a green- blue liquid to the jar, "But why am I being tagged? How do I hide the cut until it heals?"
Austin added the foaming stuff to the bigger jar causing it to bubble, "You'll need to ask Macey about why, but no one can see the cut, or tag in this case, unless they've been through it or something very similar."
