My eyes snapped open the morning of August 18th. The brightness of the morning sun blinded me, and I hurriedly re closed my eyes. Once I felt that my eyes had adjusted I reopened them. I sat up groggily and leaned against the back of my bed. I winced when one of the boards jutted between my shoulder blades. Grabbing a pillow, I stuffed it behind my back, cushioning the head board. I rested back on it and closed my eyes, trying to wake up. A smile spread across my face as I thought of what was going to happen in just a few hours. My wedding! With that thought, I jumped out of bed and rushed into the bathroom. It was only after I splashed my face with water did I remember that I forgot to get a new towel for the sink. I sighed and reached into the cupboard with wet hands and grabbed a purple towel. I gently dabbed my face and dried my hands. I returned to my room and closed the window blinds, preventing any unwelcome eyes from looking in. I opened my dresser drawer and searched through the sloppy mess of unfolded cloths. After a few minutes of rummaging I decided to change into a pair of skinny jeans and a comfortable T-shirt. I grabbed my keys from my desk and ran out the door, locking it behind me. I scampered down the hall and to the elevator, which I found was under maintenance at the moment. I turned around and rushed down the stairs and out of the apartment building and into the parking lot. I sighed, forgetting where I had parked my brown car. I had come home late yesterday evening and grabbed the first parking lot that I saw, and now I was suffering the consequences of not having the awareness to remember where I had parked. After walking down the many isles of
the parking lot I finally found my car from the recognizable Spider-man bumper sticker (HECK YEAH). I opened the car door and sat down on the leopard print seat covers. I put my key into the ignition and turned on the engine, music blared from the speakers. I jumped in surprise, hitting my head on the ceiling of my car. I yelped and rubbed my head while frantically turning the volume dial down. "Whew!" I muttered to myself once I was greeted with the soft humming of the music. I gripped the steering wheel and put the car into reverse, and slowly backed out of my parking lot. The clock read 9:00 and I had an appointment at the beauty place in down town New York in 10 minutes. I drove out of the parking lot and headed to town. Of course, since I was in a rush, I seemed to constantly be greeted with red lights and old geezers driving the cars in front of me. My fingers drummed the steering wheel anxiously as my car stalled at a red light. 9:11, the clock read. I sighed exacerbated. I rolled down the window, hoping that some fresh air would help calm my nerves. The only thing that greeted me was the smell of the exhaust from the truck beside me. I gagged and coughed into my elbow and slammed my finger on the button that closed the window. I looked into the rearview window getting a glance of the back seat. I wished that I still had the pack of water bottles. To my relief a few of the water bottles were laying on the back seat. The light was still red, so I quickly un did my belt and leaned back, grabbing the nearest water bottle. Turning back to the proper position I quickly strapped my belt and opened the water.
BEEP!!!
The horn of the car behind me broke through the air. I glanced up seeing that the light was now green. I hit the accelerator, as I did so the water spilled out of the bottle and onto my pants. "Darn it!" I cursed.
I continued down the road and after a few more minutes of uncomfortable wetness I pulled into the beauty place's parking lot. I was so grateful that I had asked for my wedding dress to be shipped here. I did not want to have to remain in these wet clothes for much longer. I jogged up the stairs of the building and pushed open the glass door. I went up to the front desk, where a woman with narrow spectacles sat and typed at a computer.
"Hi, I'm Hannah Par-Leon." I stuttered, I was already getting into the habit of calling myself Hannah Parker. Since Peter had asked me to marry him, I had started writing my name over and over again,
