*Kahtarina POV*
~Then~
"Domo you slimy slug!! Come back!!" I screamed as my best friend ran off with my biscuit. Domo laughed and turned her head. "You gotta catch me!!"
I ran after her. I tried to run faster than the winds could catch in sails.
We ran towards the town and market. Running past the vendors, I could smell freshly baked bread, and the pungent stench of rum and imported wines. We ran through alleys and into town square.
"DOMO!! I WANT MY BISCUIT!!" I yelled, laughing. "No!!" She yelled back. Domo ran past the fountain in the middle of the square and dodged horses and their carriages.
I huffed and followed suit.
She ran down to the docks, and eventually along the shore of the beach. The sun was beginning to set, and I just couldn't help but look.
Domo ran slower, so I could catch up, and eventually began walking.
"Look or'e there!" She pointed to a cave, as she handed me the biscuit. I munched on the crispy snack as we walked and tried to catch our breath.
We walked into the cave, and it was big enough so that only we could fit through the opening, and the inside was like a little room with an opening to let light shine it's way through. There were pools of water all throughout it.
"What's that?" Domo pointed to something behind me.
I turned and saw that it was a wooden trunk. "Let's open it!" I beamed. She nodded and walked over to where we could lift the heavy lid together.
We heaved it open and saw that there were various things in the rigid box. It held scrolls, books, leather shoes, a dagger, a lady's dress, and what caught both of our eyes- two lockets the size of our thumbs that were both golden with gold chains.
We marveled at them as we picked them up. I opened mine and saw a picture of a ship. It was carved into the gold and looked as if it could sail the seven seas!
Domo showed me hers and it was a wheel to a ship- one that looked as if it could steer past any rock or horror in its way!
We grinned, and fastened them around our necks. As we did, there was a sudden burst of energy around us. It disappeared but it was enough to shake us to the core. We looked into each other's eyes and we both had a look upon our face as if we saw a ghost.
"I think we should go..." I complained.
Domo looked up at the opening in the top of the cave and said "this should be our place..."
I looked at her hard. I grinned.
"Maybe."
---------
~Now~
I sat on my bed in my bunker, looking up at the ceiling of the ship. I twirled the locket I got so long ago between my fingers.
Such simpler times, those were...
"Captain!! We've got company!!" I heard Domo yell.
I sprung up from my bed and rushed out the door, not caring that I only had on knee breeches, boots, and my poet shirt... I stopped to see what Domo was pointing and looking at.
It's him.
