'No, no, we're just about to lay the red carpet for y..' But my Mom cut me off saying,'No dear, you're not late, she hasn't cut the cake yet' with a smile on her face.

He sighed, kissed my forehead and sat on the couch making himself comfortable. Joy said,'Mark, did you bring it?'. But he was too busy fiddling with my hairbrush.'Marcus John Blanc!' she shrieked, scaring the shit out of me. He regained his senses and said, "Yes, yes I have. Mind your voice, woman. The driver has it." Marcus was stinking rich. he had a Jaguar and a BMW of his own. But I wasn't jealous, he was an idiot. His father was a super successful businessman, but Mark never bragged about any of this.

"Let's hurry up kids, you have school to attend too,"mom said in a hurried tone. "Oh dear god.." I groaned," Does a birthday girl have to go to school?" But as my mom went away ignoring, I thought it was the wisest to just pack up.Oh, what a cruddy start to a birthday. I grabbed my bag and started putting stuff into it. Seeing the bored off expression on my face, joy said trying to cheer me up,"You should be looking forward to school today, we have our adventure sports session." Did I tell you that I absolutely love adventure sports? Last year I won at Mountain biking, Rock climbing and river crossing in the state championships. i'm very different than the normal girls you'd see around. i don't like dressing up or gossiping.

I cut my cake and everybody present sang 'Happy birthday' to me. after eating 3 huge pieces of cake, I got ready for another school day, another crappy school day. I put on a Converse jacket over my Abercrombie , a pair of jeans and a pair of blue sneakers and after putting my brown, wavy hair into a braid, we set out for school. We went to school from Mark's car. He was a nice guy, somewhat like me. I think that's why we're best friends.

Joy and I were sitting at the back, while Mark was in the front. Joy and Mark didn't get along very well; 'Differences in opinion.' Our ride to school was pretty silent until my phone beeped. I looked down to view the message I'd recieved.

From- Theo

Happy birthday bud ;)

I replied- Thank you, bud :)

He was this really nice guy from our neighborhood. He was a year or 2 older but an excellent friend of mine. He texted back.

Theo- So what is the plan?

Me- I don't know yet.

Theo- I was wondering if I could take you out for dinner..

I smiled to myself and replied teasingly.

Me- Like.. For a date? :P

Theo- Are you kidding? xD I'm already dating. You're my friend, that's why..

Okay, that hurt. He was an awesome friend and I'd never thought about him that way but, what the hell? He was really handsome and manly and attractive. girls would flood around him. I pushed all these thoughts away and texted him back.

Me- I think I can make it. Text me the time and place.

Theo- Kay. So, Cafe Springtime, 7 pm?

Me- Sounds good. See you.

Theo- Alrighty! ;) I gotta go, Sienna is calling. bye.

Me- Okay, Bye. :)

Sienna Winston, Theo Brooks' girlfriend was one girl I hated. Wasting my time judging people is usually the last thing on my mind, but they say first impression is the last impression. same was the case here. She was extremely self-obsessed and proud. I still wouldn't have hated her so much if she hadn't done that. That.

Joy blurted out breaking the silence,'We have a surprise for you dear Alexandra'. 'Don't call me that.' Did I mention that I hated my name? It sounded like a name of a queen from Biblical times. 'Tell me what it is', I said. 'Do you even know what a surprise means?' Mark said with a smirk on his face. Our car pulled into the school parking lot. As I got off I saw something approaching. After a closer look I realized it was an animal. It was a dog.

DOGS. My worst nightmare was coming true. I'd rather be with Satan than a dog. I was officially screwed. I ran for my life. The dog wouldn't have attacked if I hadn't run. Stupid Alex. I ran into the woods near our school hoping the dog would stop chasing. i lost my breath and tripped over a rock falling hard to the ground. Everything faded to black.

     ***

'You okay Alex bud?' a voice called out. 'Theo?' I asked, opening my eyes. His sexy, mysterious voice made  butterflies roar in my stomach. It took me a while to understand that I was in the school medical room. 'You were running like a maniac out there.'

'H-How did you find me?' I asked.

'I was driving to Sienna's...' that name disgusted me.'I saw you running. I followed you and picked you up when you fell.' saying this, his deep, blue eyes met mine.'You have beautiful eyes, Alex.' I shiver ran down my spine. Gah! Get your shit sorted, Alex!

I've never been in love. Like, 'Love' love. I've had a couple of crushes but that's when I was is VII grade. I had a boyfriend back then. But he broke up with me saying that I didn't seem like a girl, and he wasn't interested in a gay relationship. It still hurts me when I think about this. So what I ain't girlish?

'Hey, waddup?' joy said, breaking my eye contact with him. 'how'd you manage doing this?' she said, holding up my injured leg. 'I don't know'. She had brought some fruits and a croissant from the cafeteria. She's the best friend ever. I ate the croissant and sat up,'Let's go; thanks for everything Theo,' I said smiling,'see you in the evening.' 'Evening?!', Joy exclaimed. she took Theo in a corner and whispered something I could not make out. Theo gave her a thumbs up and she grinned back. Just as we  were about  to exit, they appeared.
