It Was Disastrous

In one disastrous minute, it happened.

I never thought that a single moment could change the course of everything. Seconds ticking like it was counting a memory to be recorded through time. As if it was racing towards a particular moment.

But what moment?

His lips were on mine.

And I thought it was the end of me. My heart was pumping too fast, screaming too loud, like it was desperate to come out and breathe. My mind was a blank stare. Years of knowledge all forgotten in that moment because it didn't matter then. It didn't matter why the world was round, why the earth shakes and why the sky's blue. It didn't even matter how and why it started. The only thing that mattered was his sensuous lips on mine.

And then his fingers tangled through my hair. It was a sweet gesture. I never liked my hair. And there he was, caressing my hair like it was precious and deserved great care.

We were so lost in the moment, like we were thrown to an abyss, never to be seen again; lost in existence. I didn't care if we did. And I'm guessing he didn't too. Because I had him, and he had me.

And as if the world stopped moving, the long hand of the clock hit the last second. His lips slowly retreated. He retreated and took with him the blissful dream I was in; the beautiful abyss that was short lived. He took with him everything in that single minute.

And it was disastrous.

As if the clock struck 12, it had to end. And he knew that. I knew that.

And it was disastrous.
