Lanterns

Sky rumbling as a stormy night
Covers the stars and moon up high.
Thunder crackling in anger,
Remembering those empty promises tied to lanterns.

Waves crashing against each other,
As the wind races with water.
Tides leaving bits and pieces,
Of memories, hopes, dreams, and wishes.

I was floating to an endless body of madness;
Misery, pain, insanity.
Wishing the waves would swallow me,
To end this game I was bound to lose.

You came with your boat.
I hated that you did.
Because in that small boat,
You brought hope, love, and family.
