I sit here unable to speak
Losing the ability to think
Sitting here watching
With a mortified expression painting my face
Pleading for a thought on how to react
But I do not move
Not even the slightest muscle
Because I cannot
You have sent my mind reeling
So I wait
Waiting for words to regain control
But the only one I can come up with
"What? I do not understand?"
Paired with a raised eyebrow
And my head cocked to the right at a 45 degree angle
Back to a loss for words
I leave
Trying to wrap my head around anything but your words
Changing my expression
Mortified and damn near speechless
Into a bright fake smile
Laughing aimlessly to a bad joke
Suppressing everything that previously happened into a dark corner
The corner that only gets to be acknowledged in the dark of the night
When everyone is fast asleep
Only then do I break
