Not Forever

Petra couldn't rest. She was fidgeting, and clumsy and thinking, deeply. She had just caught word that Hange was of on a mission, without Levi.

This would have been fine. totally fine.

If Levi hadn't told her he was going to spend this evening with Hange sorting out paper work.

She thought they were a team, why would their squad leader lie to them?

"Just leave it Petra" Gunther yawned from where he was sitting, cleaning one of his swords.

"Yeah, leave it!" Olue snapped very quickly.

Petra noticed that he was watching her, much more than the others, more tensed up.

"Why? We're meant to be a team-" Petra started to say.

"His the captain. I'm sure he does other things he doesn't have to tell us about, he is the "Hunting Hero" " Gunther said.

Petra reddoned a little, remembering how much she used to fawn over him when she was younger.

"I understand that but then why did he lie?" She retorted, folding her arms.

The door opened and Levi stepped through, Gunther shrugged, grinning at her "Why don't you ask him yourself?"

"I will" Petra grumbled. 

She walked up to him "Captain, Sir. I was wondering where you-"

"Okay listen up" Levi interupted her, stepping forward, addressing his squad.

"We have a new mission that we'll be gone for a couple of days for. A village further out has had some vampire problems but a lot and they think they're from the same nest. They want it dealt with quickly and easily and also put money up front for the best survey corps to deal with it"

"That's the commander's group and you, isn't it?" Gunther asked.

"No, that's me and you brats. So far you've proved youself to everyone, including Erwin" Petra noticed Levi smirked a little as he said this.

"We are going tomorrow. Make sure you are all ready" Levi said.

"Sir-" Petra started.

Levi closed the door on her, seemingly not to have heard. 

Petra sighed, lowering her head.

"Nice try" Gunther snorted.

Oluo said weakly "Yeah"

He knew Levi had ignored Petra on purpose, vampires had superhearing after all.

Not that he was going to tell Petra that...

No, Levi had to.

He couldn't keep this a secret forever. They both knew that.
