*Sarah's POV*

Shawn followed me into my basement room, or, what my dad had forced upon me as a room. All it had was a filthy mattress on the concrete floor, some clothes in a pile, my school things, a small dresser, and a few trinkets in a nightstand in the corner, with some things things that i couldn't go without.

i grabbed my backpack, and shoved as much stuff as i possibly could in there, while shawn packed my duffle bag. once that was over, we headed back up the old stairway of my- or what was now my old house. I never wanted to come back, i never wanted to see his face, smell the alcohol, any of it. i never wanted to call this home, this wasn't home once shawn left.

Shawn opened the door for me, and as i walked through i felt a sense of freedom on my shoulders, like there was no more worry to have to deal with.

"Sarah, I've been renting an apartment, it has a spare room, we can redecorate it if you want and ill try to get custody, okay?" shaw said getting into the car.

"okay." i said, barely audible.

i guess this meant driving off to a new future.
