She stared at me with those dark black eyes, wisps of black hair flowing over her shoulders.
I immediately drew my hand to the knife in my pocket. The girl looked at the hilt, with a look of panic set on her face.
"Who are you?" I firmly asked. The girl said nothing. "Aww what happened?" I leaned in close, drawing the knife out. "You can't talk?"
She slowly nodded her head.
"Oh really?" I leaned back and pointed the knife directly between her eyes. "But I heard you yell to someone just now,"
"Sam!" Rick called. I whipped my head around but kept my knife trained on the girl.
"What?" I hissed.
"She's scared. Ok?" He said. "Just give her some space."
I bitterly laughed. "Yeah right because she needs space after she popped right in front of my freakin face!" I yelled.
"What has gotten into you?!" Rick shook his head.
I put the knife down and scowled at the little girl. "Who are you?" I asked again. "Who's your partner?"
"I- I don't know w- what you m- mean." She stuttered.
"Yeah right. Dumb act is not going to work on me princess,"
"How bout tough act?"
"You're scared of a stupid knife."
"Sam!" Rick yelled again. "Move and let me talk to her.
My scowl deepened but I sat down on a nearby stump.
"Now please tell me who you are and who you were talking to," Rick kneeled in front of the girl.
"I I'm a stealer. And so is my brother," she explained. "My name is Bonnie. We became stealers after mom and dad-" she choked not able to finish her sentence.
"It's ok now," Rick pulled her in and gently asked. "Where's your brother?"
I was tired of this sweet nonsense.
I narrowed my eyes and crept away towards the lake in the distance.
I knelt down and splashed water in my face. I rubbed my hands together, getting the grime out of my knuckles.
Suddenly I heard a rustle come from a nearby bush.
"Hello?" I called out. "Anybody there?"
I looked closer and saw a patch of blonde.
"If you're who I think you are, I know where your sister is," I told him getting up.
I stalked away fast enough so he has to follow me but slow enough for him to catch up.
"Sam?" Rick called. "Saman-"
"Right here!" I angrily interrupted.
"Ok," he replied and sat on the stump.
The girls eyes widened as the boy came out.
"What are you doing here?" She asked. "I told you to wait there with the packs."
The boy replied. "I did," as he swung a mud brown backpack with leaves all over it out on his shoulder.
"Oh," she stated.
"Y-you..." My voice trailed off. "Rick. He looks like, like Cameron,"
Rick glowered at me. "Would you just forget about him. He's gone. Why can't you accept that?"
I sat silent for a moment as I stared into the boys blue eyes. "Because," I started. "I have hope,"
