It wasn't some story that had slowly formed and worked its way around town. No. It just somehow ended up as common knowledge. Nobody knew exactly who first whispered about The Secret Keepers. I highly doubt that anyone every will.
Of course anybody desperate would go and claim that they were the first to hear, but they never seemed to have any hard proof. It's not your usual town legend and all. I guess the craziest thing about it, was that everyone believed that even with absolutely no evidence, The Secret Keepers did in fact exist.
Even if you had your doubts about them, claiming that you thought that they weren't real would get you many odd looks from anyone and everyone.
Though no one knew the origin of the story, it was still told as if it was a fairytale. Most kids would dream to be superheroes or princesses or Knights in shining armor, but kids from the town of Maywood seemed to think that growing up to discover or even, with some magical way, become a Secret Keeper, would be way better. Not all thought like that, but it wasn't strange to hear.
Some parents told the story of The Secret Keepers to scare their children into telling the truth. They would falsely claim that if the kids didn't tell the truth, that The Secret Keepers would tell on them or even punish them for it.
To older kids, it became a little more of a joke, but it was still very exciting to discuss with others. It would become a random topic to discuss and a great sleepover gossip or scary story.
The Secret Keepers legend seemed to just grow. Had anyone known it was true, it definitely would had been reacted to differently.
They're were said to be seven. (HOO anyone?😂) To ask how they got the number of members was as good as asking how they heard of the story. You wouldn't get much of an answer.
None really looked into who might be members. Some said they the members might be from the U.S. Government. Others would claim that's crazy and that the members were secretly hidden in this very town.
Again, nobody knew that any of this was true. It could have been as real as Harry Potter and Hogwarts for all they have known. (HP is awesome too😂) But they chose to believe. And that choice helped and troubled The Secret Keepers.
While it gave them a name to be proud of and live with, it also caused nosy people to dig around where they shouldn't. It definitely risked the organization, but it was always worth it in the end where they would hear the occasional conversation on how cool they were.
Living the double life like Hannah Montana, they kept quiet and kept the secrets and gathered more as the days went on. (Okay, I'll stop with references now😂) It was perfect. Not a flaw to ever come in their path.
Then some genius questioned WHY they collected secrets. Soon the town erupted with chatter. Everyone seemed to have a theory. Like how the FBI could be paying them for the secrets. Or how it was for their own amusement while they got to watch everyone in the town squirm because they knew their secrets.
While there were many theories, I'd have to say that one that most agreed on was that they blackmailed people for items or favors that they want in order to keep a person's secret a secret.
Soon enough the townspeople just excepted the fact that they would never know and moved on with their daily lives.
The Secret Keepers legend continued throughout generations. It was a fun story to tell and all the people had small hope in them deep down that maybe, just maybe, the story could've at one point have been true, or possibly still was.
When he first arrived, it was nobody saw as unusual. Some people even joked that The Secret Keepers would investigate him and find out all his secrets before he had the chance to put a guard up.
Oh, how right they all were.
What they didn't know, was that they had already had a plan. Devious it was, but that had never stopped them before. They did what they had to get the job done.
The new family in Maywood was in for a treat. And The Secret Keepers definitely knew how to deliver.
It was only just the beginning.

Okay. So first time writing, so yes. Please judge. I not gonna be one of those people who forget all about a story and I'm gonna try to write not all suckish, so bear with me here.
Fun fact about me: I love the color mint green.
Please continue reading later on if you found this small little bit okay. I promise that it'll get more interesting. It was only the first little bit, and I'm planning as I go.
I'll have to write more pages in one chapter. But again, first time.
Hope you all have a good day or night or whatever!
