"Not so high and mighty now, are you?"
Wraith sighed. "Alright, so I messed up once. What's the harm?" Instantly she regretted saying it. "What's the harm? WHAT'S THE HARM? I was almost killed while getting you out of there!"
"Can we have the yelling party in the morning? I'm tired, and it feels like someone's bashing my head in with a hammer." Wraith said. The unknown figure turned slightly to face her.
"Need I remind you that you only have two days left to finish your mission." He said. Wraith nodded and replied "I am literally doing everything I can do to figure out another way."
"Well, find that other way, and do it fast."
"Since when do I take orders from you?"
"Orders?...no. Suggestions you should follow unless you feel like having your head removed from your shoulders?...yes."
Wraith was mentally cursing herself for starting a petty squabble. "Go ahead and make your declarations of war. I already have an idea, but it would be a fool's errand to try again so soon."
"You'd better hurry. Your deadline is coming to an end." The unknown figure warned.
"Likewise my tolerance for impatient Royals." Wraith replied.
Wisely, the unknown figure stayed silent, an unspoken dismissal. Wraith vanished, leaving behind a small cloud of black mist, which quickly dissipated into nothingness.
For a long while, there was nothing but silence in the throne room. It was almost comforting, the complete absence of sound and any living presences. The unknown figure liked the quiet.
"My Lord, we have a possible threat concerning Prince Shadow and his army."
And the silence was broken. "Well, don't just stand there, you idiot. Tell me what it is!" The unknown figure growled, stalking up to the messenger. The man gulped and replied quietly "He has a wyvern under his control."
For a few more moments, there was silence. Then, suddenly, the unknown figure backhanded the messenger across the jaw, sending him staggering a few steps. "Get out of my hall. Now."
The messenger inclined his head slightly and hurried from the throne room. "I'm surrounded by idiots." The unknown figure grumbled, running a hand over his face.
One more reason he could add to the list of why he wanted to see the world burn, and every single mortal and hybrid along with it. But not yet. If the world were to burn, it would burn on his terms.
After all, who could question the will of a god?
Some of his people doubted it. "You are no god!" they would yell, "You are no King!" they would shout. And he would show them. They would know. Soon, he would put this game to an end.
And he would win.
