Chapter Six- Kids in the Dark
After debating on what to do on Monday, to 'officially free Katie from the grasp of the devils' as Tom named it, we made plans to meet up the next day. Somewhere other than the hospital. So we decided on going out to the city for the day.
"Well, it's getting late and I should be getting home." Lola said once we finished planning out the details for tomorrow. That's when Lauren got a mischievous look on her face.
"How about we have a sleepover?" She suggested. We all stared at her like she had lost it. Especially Lola.
"Are you kidding?! It's a school night!" Lola exclaimed. "No one's parents are going to allow all of us to stay over."
Lauren laughed and looked at me, "What about your place Katie?" She asked. And suddenly everyone realised why she was doing this. She was doing this so I wouldn't be alone for at least one night. It was really sweet of her honestly. Crazy, but sweet nontheless.
"Uh, sure." I answered her, unsure. Everyone else agreed to come as well so Lauren cheerfully led the way out of the fast food joint.
I went after her, "Wait, you don't know where we're going!" I called. I could hear the boys snickering behind me.
As the bus dropped us off at my house, I got my keys out and unlocked the door.
I opened it and let everyone in, "Welcome to my humble abroad." I said sarcastically. "Not." I muttered quietly.
"Is everyone's parents okay with staying over?" I heard Lola ask worriedly as I entered the living room where everyone was seated. I mentally laughed. She was really cute, the way she worried about everything. But that's what came with anxiety I guess which must suck.
"Yep. I told them I was staying at yours." Lauren said. Lola's eyes widened in alarm but Lauren put a finger to her lips and told her to hush.
"Same, I told my olds I was crashing at Hunter's." Tom answered, glancing at him.
Hunter shrugged, "They don't really care what I do so..."
I was going to press him about that but Lauren wanted to go explore my house and see my room. She was way too exited about this. But then again, this was my first ever sleepover, I've never had one even when I was a child, so I guess I was pretty excited too.
"Is this your room?" Lola asked once we were upstairs, gesturing to the door that had a sign saying 'Katie's Room'. Tom snorted. I shot him a glare to shut him up.
I smiled at her, "Yeah it is. You can go in if you want." I told her, knowing that there want anything incriminating strewn around like a bra or something. I knew I cleaned it this morning because I had nothing to do when I woke up early.
Lola opened the door warily but Lauren pushed past her once she laid eyes on my room.
She gasped and her eyes lit up, "Oh. My-"
"Fucking. God." Tom finished. They started drooling over all the posters and CD's. I glanced over at Hunter who smirked at me.
