Coach's Daughter:
Chapter 2:
Chloe's POV:🔆"Maddie! Don't forget to work on the routine I gave you, and as for the rest of you, stretch!", our figure skating coach Ms. Abby screams at us as we exit the ice. We make our way into the locker rooms as everyone packs up their stuff and meets their parents outside, I'm not as fortunate. Once again my dad is late and hasn't finished coaching his varsity team. So, I don't take off my skates and I go back on the ice. Sweaty, tired, hockey skaters skate past me. "Dad!", I yell. My dad turns around and stops talking to two boys who look out of breath. One by one the hockey players take off their helmets to get a better look. "Chloe is coach's daughter?" they all whisper to each other. "My practice was over 15 mins ago, I would like to go home", I tell him. "Coach, we still have to do some backchecking", a boy I recognize from school interrupts. Everybody else groans tiredly obviously wanting to leave. His name is Josh Hyland. The biggest hockey head around, there's no doubt he has a scholarship coming his way. I shoot him a dirty look and he just stares at me. "Chloe, we won the game! That means we're on the road to nationals, we have to practice. Here's a $100, go get a private lesson with that coach of yours", my dad tells me and hands over a 100 dollar bill. I groan but take the money and make my way to the opposite side of the rink which is the figure skaters side. On my way, someone stops me, it's nick dobbs. He's all sweaty and his cheeks are rosy read from the cold temperature. "Meet me outside after practice?", he asks. I blush and nod. He grins. I hear my dad blow his loud whistle signaling for another set. I find Ms Abby looking through music selections and request a private for 45 minutes. She surprisingly accepts and orders me to go to the middle of our side of the ice. She tells me basic stretches to do on the ice before a performance and every time I try to twirl, a hockey player zooms past me making it impossible. Finally Ms. Abby had enough. She makes her way over to the opposite side of the ice and even through the loud roar of 20 ice skaters' shoes on the ice I hear her yell at my father. I couldn't make all the words out but it was something like "we have our side of the ice and you have yours" "hockey is stupid" then my dad shooting back "we won blah blah blahhh" and "figure skating isn't a sport" and all that stuff. When Ms. Abby comes back she looks furious. "Chloe, on the car ride home today, ease discuss with your father about respecting boundaries", she says to me. I nod trying not to laugh. After a few uninterrupted twirls and going over competition routines, the 45 minutes is over and I still see my father coaching the boys. After I pay and thank Ms. Abby I make my way back over there. "Dad, come on, my lesson is over I have so much homework to do lets go!", I argue. "You go get changed and I'll be done in ten minutes sweet heart, I promise", he replies. "Coach, can we do freezing the puck again?", Josh asks and everyone groans. "Come on Hyland, we wanna get home", a boy from the back of the crowd of boys shout. My dad blows his whistle and starts explaining the purpose of freezing the puck or something. I better go get myself ready to meet Nick in a few minutes.🔆
