Chapter 5:
Chloe's POV:🏆Its finally Friday! I get up and make my way down for breakfast. Josh and my dad are already there discussing hockey scores. "Good morning", I say. "Morning", my dad says. Josh just waves. "Hey coach, tonight at practice could we discuss who's going to be center at nationals? I know Dobbs and I go back to back but...", Josh starts but I interrupt him. "Weren't you center at the last game?", I ask, knowing the answer. "Yeah but let's be honest, we wanna win", he replies confidently. "Nick will be fine as the center, it's only fair", I tell him. "It's ultimately my choice", dad announces. "You're completely right, coach. Well, I better get going, wouldn't wanna be late", Josh says innocently, staring at me with a smirk. "The bus doesn't come for another half hour", I remind him. "I like to walk", he answers, heading out. Once he's gone I turn to my dad. "How long will he be staying here?", I ask. "Until his parents come back", he answers. "Dad! It's not your job to take care of him, I'm sure they could hire the best babysitter in town", I argue. "Chloe, get to school, I'm not going to drive you", he changes the subject. I glare at him, grab a piece of toast, and go upstairs to change. I make it just in time for the bus. I go to the back of the bus to sit next to Kalani. "Hey Chlo", she greets. "Hey, you will not believe the night I had. Josh Hyland stayed over at my house!", I exclaim in disgust. "Oh my god! He's a major hottie! But also a major hockey head", Kalani exclaims. "Ew I don't even want to talk about it anymore, tonight my dads gonna be out late coaching and I'm having a huge party, text everyone you know", I tell her. "Already on it", she answers texting rapidly on her phone. -time skip-

We pile off the bus and the first thing I spot is Josh making out with one girl and having another wait behind her. "Omg we have to find maddie!", Kalani nearly shouts. "Why?", I ask. "She texted us in the group five minutes ago asking where we were", she answers sounding terrified. Maddie gets dropped off every morning so she doesn't take the bus. "We were on the bus, tell her that for me please. I'll catch up with you guys later", I say. Kalani looks confused for a second then follows my eyes to where I'm looking-- Nick Dobbs! He's coming over here. "Good luck!", Kalani says all giggly, then rushes away to find Maddie. "Hey you", he says. "Hey", I reply feeling the color rise to my cheeks. "So there's gonna be this huge party at my house tonight, I would love it if you came. But you would have to miss hockey practice and I know you never miss it", I say with hope. "I really wanna come, but with nationals coming up, Coach has to decide who's gonna be center and whoever plays center is guaranteed a scholarship", he explains. "My dad already picked Josh as center", I tell him. His smile quickly fades and I could see the disappointment in his eyes. I didn't exactly lie, if Josh continues his charming behavior around my dad he's obviously going to be center. "Then I'll be at your house tonight", he says. "Yay!", I exclaim. "I gotta get to class, but can I ask you something?", he asks. "Anything", I answer. "Maybe you could talk to your dad about the position?", Nick says. I don't know how to reply. "Um I don't really get into stuff like that with him", I answer uncomfortably. He doesn't say anything for a moment. "Now that I think of it, I should probably go to practice tonight, sorry Chloe", Nick announces as he starts to leave. "Wait!", I stop him. He turns around. "Maybe I could mention it to him", I tell him unsurely. "Thanks you're the best, I'll see you tonight!", he exclaims, kissing me on the cheek. I blush. He actually kissed me!🏆 -End of Chapter 5- -Comment thoughts-
