Chapter 4:
Josh's POV:🔆The car pulls up to a little below average sized house and Chloe is the first one out. She slams the door hard behind her. "Not so fast", coach tells Chloe. "I know, I'm grounded, I'm going up to my room", she replies rolling her eyes. Coach shakes his head. "Come on Hyland, don't mind her", he tells me. I follow him into his house, dragging my equipment along. "Take a seat, make yourself at home, I'll make you a snack", he says. "Is there anything I can do to help?", I offer awkwardly. "You can try to convince Chloe to come down to get something to eat, but good luck with that", he answers chuckling. With that, I make my way upstairs and look for Chloe's room. I knock on the door with the pink "C" on it. "Go away Dad", Chloe says through the door. "It's, uh, Josh", I tell her through the closed door. After a few seconds of silence I open the door. I find Chloe in her bed in her pajamas watching Netflix. "Your dad is making us a snack", I say. "Can you get out?", she asks. "Come on Chloe don't be like that, what did I ever do to you?", I ask. "For one, you're ruining my night. And two, you're the reason I'm stuck at the ice rink for two hours after my figure skating practice", she tells me. I roll my eyes and mutter under my breath, "spoiled brat". She starts to protest but I walk back downstairs. "No luck?", Coach asks. I shake my head grabbing a cookie from the plate he prepared. "So tell me Hyland, what are your plans for the future?", he asks randomly. "Well, I'm looking at colleges as far away from home as possible, I'm not doing so good in school so I'm relying on a hockey scholarship", I reply. "Well maybe Chloe can tutor you, she tutors in our neighborhood", he tells me. "I'm not a miracle worker", Chloe says, appearing at the edge of the stairs. "Maybe you and josh could skate a little before you go to bed", Coach suggests, opening up the window blinds revealing a frozen pond in the backyard. "Woah! That's sick!", I exclaim in awe. "I thought you might like that", he replies smiling. "Dad it's dark out", she points out. "That's what lights are for", I smirk flipping the backyard light switch. Coach laughs. "Hyland, you're more than welcome to spend the whole night on the rink, but when you get tired, there's a guest room upstairs with a bathroom and everything, I'm gonna head up now, good night", he says. "Thanks coach", I reply anxiously putting on my skates. "I'm going to bed", Chloe adds. I nod. For once I get the ice to myself, perfect opportunity to practice.🔆 -End of Chapter 4-
