Dean's POV

"Sam, I don't know what I'm doing here!" I exclaimed.

"Dean, we just met Kayla a few days ago and so far she's been really helpful with the passed couple cases we've worked on...maybe she really doesn't need parental supervision"

"But have you seen her? She's reckless and thinks she's invincible"

"Maybe that's just her way of getting through the day. She doesn't know how to be a kid. She doesn't know how to have a parent..."

"How do you know?"

"I've talked to her...she told me about Lexi, Dean, and from what she told me, she didn't just not have a father around, she didn't have much of a mother either. She pretty much did grow up on her own..."

"So what am I supposed to do? Change the way she's lived for fifteen years in a matter of days?"

"Just give it time. Be the dad we never had"

My POV

Night fell and we all headed in, cautiously. The group of kids weren't coming until really late so we had plenty of time. With flashlights and guns in our hands, we snuck around and headed downstairs.

"There" I pointed to a spot in the corner of the basement.

"How do you know?" Sam asked.

"Brian said it was the corner where the murders would occur" I smirked back at Dean a bit too smugly as I walked over to the corner and stuck my foot underneath one of the floorboards. "Plus it's the only floor board in the room that is sticking straight up in the air" I said and then stepped back so they could get to digging up the floor boards and dig up the corpse.

I started to feel a little creeped out as I got some chills. "Hey, you guys almost done?" I asked.

Dean looked up at me and was about to chuckle but something caught his eye and his face became hard. I spun around and saw the ghost of the old man, standing in front of me. I moved quickly and went to shoot at him but he waved his hand and my gun flew out of my hands.

"Guys, keep digging" I instructed.

Sam continued to dig but Dean started to rush in my direction and then with another wave of the old man's hand, Dean flew to the opposite side of the room. Then, the old man quickly grabbed me by the throat before I could escape and he threw me up against the wall so my feet couldn't touch the floor.

"You wont be able to hurt anyone, anymore!" he grunted and then threw me to the floor.

Then, an ax appeared in his hands and my eyebrows furrowed. There was nothing about an ax in my research. He swung his arms up, ready to slice me into bits but then shots were fired. I saw it was coming from Dean but the old man just turned into smoke in his spot and then rematerialized and swung the ax down on me. I quickly rolled to the side so he missed, getting the floor boards instead.

"How's it coming, Sam"

"Kayla, I'm not finding any bones"

"And since when do ghosts become immune to rock salt..." Dean said but I could hear that he must have realized something. "Sam, are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"Exactly" he replied and stopped digging.

"What the hell are you guys talking about?" I asked.

But, instead of answering me, Sam swooped in, wrapping an arm around my waist and getting me out of the way as the old man swung again. Dean kept shooting, trying to at least keep him busy as we all raced back upstairs. We ran around a corner and he was there, swinging again but we all ducked and I kicked the ax out of his hands. Then, we all raced out and kept running until we got a safe distance away.
