The next day Dean said he was going to go pick up a woman named Pamela...which left Sam and I in the motel room, alone, with nothing but our secrets.
"Sam, I don't like lying to Dean" I told him, drinking a water bottle as I sat on the radiator.
"Well, I don't like lying to him either...about me or your dreams"
"Well, technically you're not even lying about my dreams if you tell him that you don't know anything...cause really, you don't" I said, hopping off the radiator.
He sighed and opened his mouth to reply but the door swung open. In walked Dean and a woman who I assumed was Pamela.
"I can't even begin to tell you how crazy you two are..." she started but then stopped.
"There's three of you...who's the newbie?" she asked and I knew she was blind but I almost felt like she was staring at me through her sunglasses.
"Well, Pamela...that's what I meant to tell you...she's uh...she's my..." Dean stammered.
"I'm his daughter" I said for him as I stepped forward to take her hand and shake it. "Name's Kayla" I introduced.
"Wow...daughter? Wasn't expecting that one..."
"Yeah, I kind of left myself on his doorstep...it's really nice to meet you"
"It's nice to meet you, Kayla..." she said slowly. You sure she's your kid? She's...so not you" she joked. I forced a half smile.
"Of course I'm sure...we're sure right?" he asked me.
"Yeah. We're sure" I laughed under my breath and rolled my eyes, crossing my arms.
"Well, Pamela, you're a sight for sore eyes" Sam said, changing the subject.
She turned to face him and she lowered the glasses, showing her plastic eyes. "Awe, that's sweet, grumpy. What do you say to deaf people?" she quipped and then she seemed to wink at me with a smile.
I was a little taken back as my eyes widened and I looked at Dean and Sam.
"Which one of you brainiacs came up with astral projection?"
"Actually, I did" I voiced.
"Ahh the offspring. So let's be clear. You want to rip your souls out of your bodies and take a little stroll through the spirit world? Do you have any idea how heavy-duty insane that is?" she crossed her arms.
"Maybe, but that's where the reaper is, so..." Dean said.
"So, it's nuts"
"Not if you know what you're doing"
"You don't know what you're doing"
"No, but you do" I said.
"Darling you don't even know me"
"No, but I can read people...and I know you know what you're doing" I crossed my arms as well.
I noticed Sam and Dean exchanged a look but I just ignored it. "Yeah, I do know. And guess what? I'm sick of being hauled back into your angel-demon, Soc-Greaser crap"
"Look, I'd love to be kicking back with a cold one, watching Judge Judy, too" Dean quipped.
"Nice. More blind jokes"
"You know what I mean. We're talking the end of the world here, okay? No more tasseled leather pants, no more Ramones CDs, no more nothing..." He paused.
"We need your help Pamela" I added, gently.
And so...she agreed to it and we got everything ready. Lit candles around the room, shut the curtains and got Pamela a chair.
