Amara walked out of Ms. Winser's World History class. The bell had barely ring and she figured she had a pretty good chance with the reading quiz. They were learning about World War 2 and it was her specialty. Not that she like enjoyed knowing about the suffering and war humankind had brought upon one another, but it interested her most.
She met up with her friend Elizabeth in the hallway and rushed off to 2nd period.
It's waaaaay too early for this. She thought. Why am I so tired lately?
"Hey," Elizabeth started. "You tired too?"
"Yeah." One worded responses weren't unusual before second period and Amara really was really looking forward to Mrs. Smigaj's class.
Mrs. Smigaj was an amazing teacher flat out. You honestly could not get better than her. She was there for you in a way that showed you she actually cared. She shared family stories and had this strange addiction to Trivia Crack. This daily story telling usually the got the class totally off topic but that didn't really matter, the entire class loved her.

"$5.75 I tell you!" The class erupted with a chorus of "Really?", "What a rip off!" or "Life Lessons with Smigaj!". All were laughing and all were happy. This truly was the best class of the day. It took everyone's mind off whatever negative or obtrusive thing that may be lurking around.
Even Alex.

"That'll be $5.25." The lunch lady, whose name tag read Gertrude, said.
Amara handed over the money and waited as the cashier gave her a salad and an iced tea. She felt drained and Spanish class was ten time ps more boring then it usually was. Mr. Radit was barking at them the entire period and would not let up about Cuba, his home country.
Bumping into her on purpose, Julie said "Heyyyy," and started walking alongside her swinging her rainbow lunch box.
"11:11 Julie," Amara said, glancing at her watch. "I got it first today."
They laughed but it was an effort.
I really need to get over this goodbye, it isn't a break up.
Together they walked over to the table the group sat at everyday. Same time, same place and the same people since 7th grade. Sitting down, Amara took in her surroundings. Across from her sat Angie, on her right; Muhammad, and on her left; Elizabeth. Next to Muhammad sat Mateusz, who sat next to Victor, who sat next to Her an. Across the table on Amara's right sat Julie, next to Julie; Kayla. On her left sat Charles; the weird new kid that fit in perfectly with their weird group. Next to Charles sat Suzan. Sitting at their round table in the corner of the lunch room she accepted that this was her group. They were her go-to people. They had multiple group chats, hung out almost every weekend, and trusted eachother.
"Hey Amara! You alright?" Mateusz asked. She wasn't quite sure if he was teasing her out not.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine." The table laughed.
"So like I was saying, if we are all going to Amara's this weekend what are we going to do?" Angie exclaimed.
Suzan waved her hands, "Hey, hey, hey, I'm the planner guys."
Laughing, Muhammad said: "Thats funny because I don't see you planning anything."
She flipped him off. Amara smiled.
"Yep, something is wrong with Amara." Elizabeth announced, setting down her sandwich. "Why aren't you speaking? Or laughing like some insane person?"
"I don't know guys, I'm just... happy."

RandomPretty fucked up story, just being honest. It was quiet enough that if she wasn't paying attention she wouldn't have caught it. He had said "I love you." They were not allowed to say that. It was forbidden. He was with a different girl, yet he said...
