I woke up in a a clean-smelling room and in a bed with soft white sheets.

I tried to sit up, but that brought a sharp pain to my sides. I noticed I was hooked up to an I.V. and the wounds I had were either bandaged, stapled, or stitched. I must be a mess.

Who found me? How did they get me here? What about Donald's body and my parents?

As if God himself had heard my pleas for answers, a kind-looking male doctor with a clean-cut beard and immaculate white clothes walked into my room.

"Kella! It's nice to see you back in action!" He smiled.

"Who.... What?" I asked in a groggy voice. "How long have I...?"

"Your neighbors heard a huge commotion down at your place. They checked it out, they found you and brought you here. Everything's taken care of."

"Even.. The.."

He nodded, as if understanding I didn't want to say "Bodies" out loud. That would just make everything irreversibly true, and I didn't know if I was ready for that yet.

"Your wounds are also taken care of, but you'll need to spend another week or so here to make sure they heal properly. You were out for a good 3 days. We were almost going to assume that you were in a coma."

Wow. This was a lot to take in.

"So... I'll be okay?" I asked.

He nodded, placing his hand on my shoulder gently.

Relief washed over me. Everything was over. It was gone.

Everything was gone. Tears pricked at my eyes. Everything was gone, and it was all my fault.

"Would you like for me to give you some privacy?" The doctor asked, empathy in his eyes.

"Yes please." I choked out.

He walked out of the room, quietly shutting the door behind him.

I sobbed and sobbed. For Donald, my parents, and I admit, even myself. I took hiccuping breaths and a mix of snot and tears was all over my more than likely red and puffy face.

After all my tears had run out, I began to close my eyes slowly. Maybe I could take just a little nap, and sleep this all off......

I was just about to fade away into the land of dreams when I heard a slight rustling sound.

I jerked awake, feeling the same cold draft I felt on the day my parents died.

Oh my god. It can't be.

I looked around the room. No one was there. Then I heard a whisper.

"Kell. It's me."

I could have sworn that was Donald's voice. But.....

"Kell."

He was at my bedside. I reached out to touch him, but my hand went through blank space.

"You're..?"

"A ghost." He nodded.

I burst into tears.

"I'm so sorry..." I sobbed. "This is all my fault. I had the page the whole time, and you had to die for it."

He smiled gently.

"No, you don't understand."

"Don't understand what?" I sniffled.

"I'm taking you with me."

"Wh- what?" I stuttered on my words. "What do you mean?"

"I'm sorry. But it's what I have to do. Just a few seconds, and we'll be together, Kella."

I couldn't breathe... Where did all of the air go?!

The last thing I saw before I parted from this earth was the smile on my oldest friend's face.

THE END.
