"On one condition." I said, in as strong of a voice as I could manage.
"And what might that be?" She asked, the brightness in her eyes dimming a little.
"Let me down from these damned chains."
She rolled her eyes and with a flick of the wrist, my chains were undone and I was sent crashing to the ground.
"Take the book. I don't care what you do at this point." I choked, the wind knocked out of me from that fall.
She laughed silently.
"Good." She picked up the book. "I've been waiting for this for such a long time. Now nobody can defeat me." The grin on her face would have been terrifying if there wasn't one crucial fact involved.
I had the page in my back pocket. I must have forgotten that I had it when we trekked out. I felt so guilty.... Donald had the wrong page, and it was all my fault.
"No time to worry about that now, Kella." I thought. "You can't let Donald die in vain."
She was frantically flipping through that pages, undoubtedly looking for the piece of paper that had the potential to undo her forever. I relished that expression of fear. I had the power now, and she was under my control.
Not that she knew that yet.
"Where is the PAGE?!" She snarled, making me jump a little.
"What page?" I asked innocently.
"You know damn well what page." She snapped, shaking the book as if she was hoping the page would magically fall out.
I smiled. "I really don't know what you're talking about."
"The PAGE!!!" She screamed, the look in her eyes was glinting and wild, like that of a rabid animal eyeing its prey.
"Oh." I giggled. "You mean this one?"
I pulled the crumpled piece of paper out of my back pocket.
She lunged at me, and I jumped aside, sending her flying towards the ground.
I wasted no time.
"Axelle maryn micli, haram yllo unum...."
She scrambled up, but I ran farther away so she'd take more time to reach me.
I was almost there.
"Faro theosos rena. Yllo haram unum."
She was running at me, vicious intent in her glare. She was getting closer, closer.... Panic gripped me.
"Exem, exem, EXEM!" I screamed, finishing the spell.
Right before she reached me, she vanished, sending a black, smoky cloud into the air.
I struggled to breathe, and just as I thought I would suffocate, the cloud disappeared, leaving me crumpled on the ground.
"That was for Donald." I whispered before everything went black.
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Well... It's about done, guys! I'm guessing maybe 2 chapters left? I can't say in words how appreciative I am of everyone who reads and supports me. I'm even more grateful towards the people who comment on the writing I have worked so hard to put out there. So please, comment and vote and fan me! I have a job now (my first one!) and so I might be too burnt out sometimes to write, but the book will be completed, I promise! Thanks so much! I love you all!
