"Hey loser! Stop trying to tan and get in the water with me!"

Like some Greek god, Carter lifted his sunglasses off his face, squinting from the sun as he looked at me. If only I had my Nikon in my hands this very second, because I really wanted to capture his beauty in this moment.

Carter set his phone on his towel in the hot sand, walking over to the shoreline, kicking sand as he went.

"So are you going to get in or not?" I asked, looking up at him and waiting for an answer. In response, Carter walked slowly in, the water line rising on his calves as he got closer to me. Before I could speak again, I was being dunked under the salty water and I was caught off guard. When I resurfaced, I laughed, splashing Carter with water.

"You're such an ass," I laughed, and he laughed with me, coming up to me, and I thought he was going to dunk me again, but instead lifted me up over his shoulder.

"I want to toss you to the sharks," He told me, walking further into the ocean. I squealed when threw me into the water, and once I came back up I made sure to give him a firm shove in the chest.

"My top almost came off when you threw me in the water Carter! I would've flashed everyone here! Last time I checked, this wasn't a nude beach!" Carter threw his head back in laughter, hugging me to his chest.

"Come on, let's go play in the waves," Carter suggested, grabbing my hand to pull me deeper into the water.

After a while, the water got cold and my stomach was growling, so Carter and I walked out onto the sand and laid down on our towels to let the sun dry us off. Rachel and Justin jogged up to our spot, sitting down and grabbing waters out of the cooler.

"I'm ready for lunch, it's already after twelve, we should go find somewhere to eat on the boardwalk," Justin suggested, and Carter and I both nodded.

"We have to find Brendan first, does anyone know where he went?" I asked, looking around for any signs of my brother. Everyone else shrugged, laying back down on their towels to get some sun. Looking farther down the beach a bit, I found him, chatting with a girl. Why am I not surprised...

Rolling my eyes, I jumped up from my seat in the sand and jogged over to my brother, shoving his arm lightly.

"Hey, we're all hungry and want to grab lunch on the boardwalk, are you ready to go?"

Brendan smiled at me, gesturing to the girl he was talking to. "Kris, this lovely lady is Anna. Anna, this is my favorite sister, Kristen."

"Try your only sister Brendan," I replied, chuckling and rolling my eyes.

"But you're still my favorite," He grinned. If he was trying to show off in front of this girl, he was trying pretty hard.

"It's nice to meet you, we're just about to head over to the boardwalk for lunch, would you like to join us?" She smiled, tucking a piece of her blond hair behind her ear.

"I mean, yeah, if that's okay with ya'll, and the rest of your friends." Her slang in her voice was one of the first things I noticed about her. Brendan grinned at me, wrapping his arm around Anna's shoulders.

"Anna's from Kentucky," He stated, almost proudly. I laughed, shaking my head at my brother as we started toward our spot in the sand.

"I noticed that stupid," I replied, and Brendan laughed. "So Anna, tell me more about yourself. Where do you go to school? How did you even come across my dork of a brother?" Just because I'm younger than Brendan, doesn't mean I can't be a bit protective.

"Well, it's a funny story actually," She started, and Brendan chuckled awkwardly. "I noticed him cringing in pain, so I went over to him to ask if he was okay, and it turns out he had a crab stuck to his foot! So I helped him pull it off, and we got to talking after that."  I chuckled, rolling my eyes. Sounds like Brendan. "I go to Murray State University in Kentucky, but I'm originally from Paducah. I'm here with my parents for a "thank God it's summer" summer vacation before we go to Orlando in a few weeks."
