"It's sad to say that I don't see you on the weekends anymore," Rachel told me as she slid into the seat next to me in homeroom on Monday morning.
"The guys were home this weekend," I sighed, sheepishly grinning at her in hopes to win forgiveness. She chuckled.
"Oh, got it. When the guys are home that automatically means you can't hang out with your best friend. Got it." The smile on Rachel's face made me let out a silent sigh of relief that she was kidding.
"Of course that's not what it means Rach." Derek walked in then and made sure everyone knew he was here by slumping to the seat next to us and noisily throwing himself down in the chair.
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed," I muttered causing Rachel to chuckle and we rolled our eyes.
"Shut up Kris. My sister decided to make a surprise visit at the house, and I was up half the night because of her." The strangeness in his words made me curious as to what he really meant, but I wasn't going to ask now. I'll have to talk to him later.
As always, school dragged on and I almost fell asleep in three of my classes, but when the final bell rang I was ecstatic to get out of hell.
"Derek!" I called, jogging up to him as he unlocked his car and threw his backpack in the backseat. He ran a hand over his face and turned to me.
"Hey...are you okay?" I asked him once I reached his car.
"Look at this, Kristen is following me around this time. Wow I'm surprised!"
I rolled my eyes at him. "Okay I can just walk away and not care." I crossed my arms over my chest and glared at him as he laughed.
"What's up Kris?"
"You were really weird in homeroom this morning," I commented, and he sighed. I watched him as he opened the passenger door open for me.
"Get in," He told me, gesturing for me to get in his car.
"If you're trying to kidnap me, you're going to have to try better than that," I remarked, and he chuckled.
"Well if you want to know why I was "really weird" in homeroom, than I suggest you get in. Come on, we're just going to my house."
"But what about my car-"
"I'll drive you back here later." I really wanted to know what was up with him, and It'll be my first time coming over so I can see what it's like at his house, but my car is in the parking lot, and I don't want it to get broken into or something. I'm trying to avoid Carter and his thoughts if he knew that I was going over to his house. As much as I want this to be a one time thing, I don't want it to be at the same time.
"Fine," I sighed, getting into his car as he closed the door for me. When he jumped into his seat, he turned the car on and we drove out of the parking lot, and I frowned at my poor car.
"Oh grow up, you'll get your car later tonight," Derek chuckled, turning on the radio.
"You listen to Sleeping With Sirens?" I questioned, quite surprised that he was actually into that kind of music. He smiled, turning to me as he turned it up.
"You know who they are?" He countered, smirking.
"Yeah," I mumbled, and smiled when my favorite song came on. "I love this one!" I turned up the volume, and ignored Derek's laughter from his seat. He rolled both the windows down, and the warm August wind blew through.
"If you like Sleeping With Sirens, do you like All Time Low or Mayday Parade?"
"Of course I do, I know practically every song by both those bands," I replied defiantly, and he chuckled again, shaking his head.
