Through the slits of my eyes, I could just make out a bright white light, a cool surface beneath me, reminding me of the dull ache that was beginning to form there. My fingers twitched, trying to get up. My limbs were numb, phantom-like as I tried to move. I felt a sudden pinprick of a needle going into my back, just between my shoulder blades, as I felt a strange liquid ooze into my bloodstream. Before I had the chance to protest, my eyelids fluttered shut, as my body once more relaxed into my world returned to subconviousness.

My house came into focus, seeing my mother, father and sister.

"Mum! Dad! Liz!" I cried, so happy I saw them again, after a very long time.

"Hey Bella!" My mother said to me. Her voice sounded like honey, oozy and pretty.

"How are you darling? It's lovely to see you after such a long time." My father said, his voice husky and deep.

"Hey sis!" My big sister's arms embraced me, and I never wanted this dream to end. Or was it a dream - it felt so real?

I woke up again, this time sweating, water leaking from my eyes; my family no longer in sight.

"No! Come back!" I sobbed, coughing from the bile that rose in my throat. Was I halucinating?

"Nothing's wrong with you." A calm but husky, deep voice stated, a southern twang present. At first I thought it was my father, but his shadow was much too tall. "And you're not delusional; but you're also not human anymore." He said lowly. He turned to leave, and I saw two, pure white feathered wings on his back. "Wait!" I cried. He stopped in his tracks, and spun around to face me again.

I quickly got off the stone cold bed I was laying on, ignoring a huge headache, and ran at him. Well...I tried to. As soon as I stood up, I fell onto the floor. Luckily, it was carpeted, and didn't hurt as much.

"Ouch." I moaned; my pounding headache hurt even more, now that I'd managed to hit it on a floor too. The stranger was there, looking intently at me; as if I were something he'd only dreamed of seeing. He was so close I could kiss him, but my headache started pounding even more.

"Yikes. How heavy did you hit your head?" He asked, jokingly. He was biting his lip nervously, I did the same.

"I have no idea..." My voice trailed off, lost in his intense, emerald green eyes.

"You may want to look in the mirror, and see what we've given you."

"What do you mean?" I asked. He nodded at the mirror, a couple of steps away from the bed I'd been lying on.

"You're the same as me now."

"What do you mean 'I'm like you now'?" I asked, thinking he was delusional.

"Go look in the mirror." He said, his voice a little shaky from being so close to me. He let me go with some hesitation, and I moved toward the mirror, and looked at my reflection. "What did you do to me?!" I demanded of the stranger, who was now in the middle of the room.

"We made you into a faerie; like they made me one"

"Wait. Who are 'they'?" I asked, still looking at myself in the mirror. He changed the subject.

"We made you into a Human-Faerie. You're not fully human any longer." He looked behind me and smiled.

I hastily looked at my bare back, except from a loose, plain white top, with a huge hole going from my shoulders to my waist. I saw two, fragile and unfamiliar wings.

"What did you do to me?! And why?!" I demanded again.

"A couple of us saw you cry. You kept saying to yourself "I wish I'd never have lived this gay, human life." So...we gave you a drug, via the air surrounding you, brought you here, and I think you know the rest. You have a strong heart."
