Early morning

I've been laying down in the local park for a couple of hours now. I looked at the stars as thoughts flew through my mind. I always came here to clear my head. Tonight it wasn't working too well.

I was tired of laying there trapped with my thoughts. I got up and started to walk down the streets of Nashville. I was just wandering with my duffle bag over my shoulder occupying my mind with the small things I saw.

It was almost 1 in the morning but I didn't feel like being in my home alone. I pulled my light blue jean jacket tighter around myself as the wind began to pick up.

I heard a clap of thunder and then it started to pour. I cursed and started walking at a faster pace. I should've gone back home after the park. I quickly got my bearings and started back to my house.

I turned down the street passing by the back of the night club. I heard a girl cry out

I dropped my duffle by the dumpster and saw a big muscular guy hunched over a small figure. "Let me go home already. It's raining you asshole!"

I didn't even think about what I was doing. I ran over and punched the guy square in the head. I heard my knuckles crack.

"Leave her alone!"

He stumbled backwards and threw his fist back at me. I dodged his drunken swing and punched him in the gut. "Alright alright dude dam!" And he stumbled back into the club

"Hello?" The girl wasn't anywhere in sight

I picked up my duffle and examined my bloody knuckles. I saw the girl a little ways ahead sitting at a bus stop. She was shaking.

I jogged closer to her and saw she was crying. "Hey you okay?"

"I-I thank you."

"Come with me. My apartment is right over there. I don't want you getting pneumonia." I held out my hand and she carefully took it.

I held the duffle above her head, to shield some of the rain, as we walked in silence. We got to the front of my house and I unlocked the door and helped her inside.

I reached for her black leather jacket. She flinched away, "Hey, I'm not going to bite. If you leave that on you're gonna get sick."

"Here." I helped her take her jacket off.

"Thank you" she mumbled out

"Is your hand okay?" She said worried catching a look at my knuckles.

"Yeah they've seen better days but they're alright. I know it's almost 2am, but do you want some tea?"

She shook her head yes. I shot her a small smile as I hung up my jacket.

"Make yourself at home. I'll put the kettle on and then get you some dry clothes." I said gesturing her to the kitchen.

I put some water in the kettle and onto the stove. I set up the mugs and tea bags.

"I'll be right back."

I went into my bedroom and wrapped my knuckles. I quickly changed into dry undergarments and put on a tank top with some basketball shorts. I brought the same out for her.

"Here you go. You can change in the bathroom right there."

"Are you sure?"

"Positive."

She went into the restroom to change and came back out, just as the kettle went off. I poured the tea and gave one to her.

I got a blanket out of the small hall closet and wrapped it around her.

"Thank you so much for everything."

"No problem at all. I'm just glad I could stop that horny jerk before something happened to you."

"Well thank you anyways. I didn't catch your name."

"It's Jenn. How about you, lil' fireball?" I said referring to her bright red hair

She let out a small giggle "Hayley."

"Nice to meet you."

"Like wise."

"You down to watch a movie? I've got Wayne's World already in."

"No way!! That's like my all time favorite movie!"

"Haha I'll take that as a yes."

Hpov (Hayley's point of view)

I can't believe the punch that Jenn gave that creep. I'm even more shocked that she invited me into her apartment like I was her long time friend.

We finished off our tea and we settled down in her bed where Wayne's World was playing. I slowly fell asleep to the sound of Wayne and Garth.
